I'd be quite happy to keep my AR-15 (or equivalent .223 semi-auto long gun).
Light enough, accurate, and I know it like the back of my hand.
And if the feces ever struck the oscillatory air mover, there'd be plenty of ammo available at the cadavre sporting goods store.

This has appeared on so many boards. The first and only choice is a .308. Anything less than a .308 is wasting time trying to take down whatever kind of game you're after. .223 is the poodle shooting round.

My AR-15 because replacing by the upper receiver I can have anything from a 9MM CAR to a .223 match rifle for Highpower Rifle events.

U.S. M21 rifle (it's a scoped, tricked out version of the .308 M14)

I've thought about this a lot as I'm sure many freepers also have. After watching the movie "Enemy at the Gate" I've decide that a sniper rifle is the best NRA, save the country type weapon to own. Obviously handguns have no real compat use except to kill yourself. M16's are a very good ALL AROUND weapon to be given to people fighting en-mass anywhere in the world. Defending the country from invasion would not be an enmass fight but would more likely be similar to what we Stalingrad WWII.
So which sniper rifle. Howabout a good ole bolt action 30-06. Much bigger like a 50 cal might not be very practical when lowcralling through tunnels or hiding in a tree or a fox hole if you 'relocate' after every shot. It might be a good idea to sellect what ever 30 calliber rifle will shoot the same ammo that you are likely to find in the field rather than picking an oddball size.

50 caliber Desert Eagle handgun.
LOOK!
Lots of votes for 12ga/7.62.
Good choices.
How about handguns? .45 has already been recommended.

Let's try that again:
My AR-15. By replacing the upper receiver and stock, I can have anything from a 9MM CAR-15 to a .223 match rifle for Highpower Rifle events.

When Matt Lauer asked Charlton Heston if he thought that he had as many guns as he needed,Mr. Heston replied"I probably have as many guns as I need, but I don't have as many as I want".I'm with Chuck on this one!I'd like to see someone tell me that I can only have one gun!If that were the case, I would have great difficulty deciding between my H-Bar Comp AR15 and my beloved 1886 Winchester .45-70govt.The former puts out a lot of little bullets, while the former delivers enough wallop to at least get an elephant's attention!!

If I had to pick only one of the guns I currently have, it would be my folding stock M-1 .30 Cal. Carbine. It's a light gun, it's easy to conceal because it folds & with a .30 Cal. bullet it will bust your @ss accurately up to 150 yards.
