12ga, extra barrel, and a hacksaw.

Ammo has varied sizes of shot-shells, plus slugs, plus exotics some of which you can load yourself. [3/8inch lead sinkers crimped on thin aircraft cable or piano wire; tacks; rocksalt; etc.]

Apply hacksaw to spare barrel and instant hogsleg.

Best all-around short to medium distance firearm.

12ga again!

OK, I am convinced. I will get one.

Ah. We agree. I like the piano wire device. Is it $1.60 in dimes dropped down a payload-emptied 12ga. and resealed that cleans rooms so well? I forgot. A friend used same in 'Nam and was quite impressed. Still loads it in his exposed hammer coach-gun, hanging on the wall. Nobody seems to appreciate the Poly-Choke for survival versatility here yet. Am I out of date? No comments on Dragon's Breath either. Nor flechettes, the legendary "well Sir, I kept shooting because he didn't fall down"...having the back of his shirt already stapled to the car body he was standing in front of. Oops. Who knew? I must say I like these M1 guys. They know what works. Just hang on to those en-bloc clips! I'm also glad somebody mentioned the "shoot to wound" 5.56 philosophy. A 6mm on that case may have been a great improvement, even bucking crosswind better.

Oh. Do you or anyone else know anything about our friend Bin Laden's "status" AK? Is it the Officers Model one, that shoots the shortened case round. I believe it has a gas chamber at the muzzle to build up pressure to cycle the action.

P.S.: to illistrate our point, a guy in T.V.'s Miami Vice used an abbreviated (forgot model #) Ithaca 20ga. pump, w/muzzle at mag. cap, and a little tab hanging down, to encourage one to go home with two paws intact. You know, when the system has crumbled, and it's dog-eat-dog, a fella figures these things out for himself anyway. One poster said something like "only one gun?...then I'll have yours!" Tally-Ho!
