Islamic Group Demands U.N. to Forbid Defamation of Islam

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 1, 2001 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- The Mecca-based Muslim World League (MWL) on Thursday demanded the United Nations forbid the defamation of Islam and Muslims, Kuwait's official KUNA news agency reported.

In a statement issued in Saudi Arabia, MWL Secretary General Abdullah Al-Turkey called on the U.N. to adopt an international law that forbids the "assailment of divine religions," especially Islam.

He cited the campaign by Western media against Islam, warning that connecting Islam with terrorism will stir up hatred against Muslims.

"Such campaign will affect security and stability worldwide," he stressed, saying that the "unjust" campaign against Islam violates the U.N. Charter and contradicts with human rights principles.

He also expressed the Arab world's "discontent" over the continuous cultural and media campaigns against Islam and Muslims in the West, urging the international community to take a stand against those campaigns.

Finally, he urged the Islamic popular and official organizations, especially the Organization of the Islamic Conference, to defend Islam.

Hmmm . . . I am preparing a similar request to the UN, asking them to forbid the defamation of the New York Mets.

Islam is an evil perversion of Judaism and a false religion. There, I've defamed the filthy b*stards, what's Kofi Annan going to do about it?

Don't worry. The UN won't tell the truth about Islam. They're too busy defaming the Jews...

There are non-divine ones?

Clearly he is confused. The people who are most loudly connecting Islam with terrorism are the terrorists themselves, and their millions of supporters within Islamic populations around the world. And so, it seems like this should be treated as a case of "physician heal thyself"...

"assailment of divine religions,"

It would only apply to divine religions. Now what is a Divine Religion, obviously by Muslim definition only Islam qualifies.

Can we get this Muslim off his air-conditioned camel long enough to give us a list of all the things that might be considered "defamation"?

Er... uh... the longer the better.
We gotta know what we're not supposed to do.
For instance, does saying "Mohammed loves BLTs" qualify?
How about... "Mohammed has hairy palms"?

Here's one perspective on that....

Vatican stresses Jerusalem as capital of the three divine religions
Regional, Religion, 2/20/1998

Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the Vatican's secretary of state, on Thursday said in a message addressed to the chief of the Vatican's apostolic delegation in Jerusalem, "Jerusalem, claimed as a capital by two peoples and as the homeland of the heart for the believers of three religions, is still, unfortunately, a motive for lasting rivalries, as well as violence and exclusivistic claims."

We should respect their call to forbid the defemation of islam. I will never again mention that islam is a religion of hate and intolerance. I vow to refrain from referring to islamic fundamentalist as "shit-for-brains camel humpers". Instead, I will refer to them in more respectful terms such as "Mohammed's-Mindless-Boys-Driven-To-Terror-By-Insatiable-Thirst For-Sex-With-Virgins."

I promise not to "defame" islam. As we all know, truth is an absolute defense to defamation, so as long as we tell the truth about this violent, fascist, totalitarian, and barbarian religion made up by some power-mad halfwit sheep-lover, we should be ok.

There are non-divine ones?

Yeah, Islam is the best known.

They've been practicing car-jackings since before there were cars! (camel-jacking?)
They are the original caravan pirates, crooks, killers, kidnappers, and pedophiles.
Did I leave anything out?

They're quoting the Vatican- not relaying their own opinion.
