12 U.S. DELTA MEMBERS WOUNDED ON RAID OF OMAR

MAG: 12 U.S. DELTA MEMBERS WOUNDED ON RAID OF OMAR'S COMPLEX, THREE SERIOUSLY; PENTAGON RETHINKS 'SPECIAL FORCES OPERATIONS'

Seymour Hersh has filed yet another controversial report for coming editons of the NEW YORKER, publishing sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

In ESCAPE AND EVASION, Hersh claims: In the wake of a near-disaster during the assault on Mullah Omar's complex during the early morning of October 20th, the Pentagon has been rethinking future Special Forces operations inside Afghanistan.

Delta Force, which prides itself on stealth, had been counterattacked by the Taliban, and some of the Americans had had to fight their way to safety. Hersh has filed his report for the November 12, 2001 issue of the NEW YORKER, on sale Monday.

Twelve Delta members were wounded, three of them seriously.

The intensity and ferocity of the Taliban response "scared the crap out of everyone," a senior military officer tells Hersh.

The Delta team stormed Mullah Omar's complex, but found little of value, Hersh reports, and then, "as they came out of the house, the shit hit the fan," one senior officer says. "It was like an ambush. The Taliban were fighting with light arms and either [rocket-propelled grenades] or mortars." The team immediately began taking casualties and evacuated.

"The Delta team was forced to abandon one of its objectives: the insertion of an undercover team into the area and the stay-behind soldiers fled to a previously determined rendezvous point, using a contingency plan known as an E. & E., for escape and evasion," Hersh writes.

And I don't think any Spec.Ops. officer would ever publically say they had the 'crap' scared out of them.

Read Blackhawk Down. Initial shock and fear isn't unusual, and some of them admited to it in the interviews for this book. But then these guys keep on fighting, and for the enemy, it isn't a pretty sight....

People here may not like WHAT Hersh is reporting about the war in Afghanistan. Does that also apply to his devastating expose of the Kennedy administration? The story may not be pleasant or palatable to some people. But to dismiss it as outright claptrap is wrong and ridiculous. Both sides are spinning their propoganda. They lie. We lie. So when reports come out next week that substantiate Hersh's reporting, will the naysayers and debunkers change their tune?

We're going to lose people. That's a fact. It doesn't make us weaker to accept the fact; we're only weaker when we fall under the sway of propoganda -- theirs or ours -- and refuse to listen to anyone who doesn't kowtow to those lines.

Keep reporting, Hersh. We may not like what's coming out. But better to be informed than to clap our ears shut and huddle in ignorance.

Hersh himself is Jewish? So's Babs. What's your point?

Religious affiliation and personal politics don't necessarily go hand in hand. The NY vote-fraud case that helped get Hillary elected to the Senate proves that.

Fear is a normal part of combat, the thing is that no combat soldier will tell you if he was or was'nt. Its a private thing. I'd sure like to meet this confidential source.

Probably some civillian puke in the pentagon.

I like the picture but it should read "We Will Never Forget". We needn't be reminded as to what we will remember.

One does not know whom or what to believe. Those who head our government are bunglers and congenital liars. Those media creatures who report love treason and/or sedition and are known to create 'stories.' Time will tell. (I note there are no longer pictures of troops boarding airplanes in green light, splashy photos of guys parachuting, stories on how the enemy are going to be killed and their things broken. This aspect has the smell of disaster.) Once agin time will tell.

I hadn't considered that, you may be right - for certain the "source" is someone who was not even there, so I coun't some of the details in the story as highly suspect.

Well, that's one "senior officer" who should be court-martialed.

Most conspiracy writers use just enough truth to make the story legitimate. Then,,,,,,,, they load on the BS. It's what they do.

#7 I'm not sure I buy anything Hersh writes. In fact, I don't buy any sensationalism, and for sure don't need to know everything that goes on. If casualties happen, we will be told by credible sources.

Isn't Seymour Hersh Jewish?

I've never been able to understand why so many Jews back the left. It's consistently been Republicans and the right that backs and protects the nation of Israel, while it's always the RATS and left-wingers who sell them out and stab them in the back. Go figure!

You don't get it. It's not casualties that are the problem. That part is the only truth I see in the Hersh piece. The rest of the conjecture is the damaging garbage.
