As I tearfully watched the conclusion this evening,my final comment was "F**k the media!" I am so mad at the "newsholes" for doubting the effectiveness of our guys!When I watched the old timers,and saw the depth of their feeling ..to this day.!....I was livid!Every public voice should praise and support our troops.Most of us have never seen combat.We cannot possibly know the horrors and demands.....but we can give our ABSOLUTE support.Anything less is treason!
I'm with you. I also think that I have to give credit to Gene Kelly, Spielberg, Hanks, and Ambrose. It was a great mini-series, and would do well to be included in American History classes.
It might be true that Ambrose is a liberal, but back then even liberals were patriotic. Series such as Band of Brothers will bring back other liberals to that level of patriotism and self-respect.
Patriotic liberals aren't our enemy. It's the other kind of liberal who almost dragged us into the gutter. Hard to believe that Hanks and Spielberg had this patriotic epiphany prior to 9/11, but they did do Saving Private Ryan. I would also guess that Ambrose had quite an influence on them.
Patriotism is once again in the mainstream even in the Blue Zones. It might be small, it might be large, but I'll take that form of progress.
