Glad to be here, I'm practicing my new secret handshake.
Now I just need to connect with the other closet Republicans in our union. (I know there are a lot of us out there.... maybe we can eventually stage a coup!) At least I'll still receive all the latest in Democratic propoganda that way, so I know what they're up to....

Shhhhhh ......that's OK.....I've already hated him for almost 10 years now.......(Don't tell anyone...)

The differance between a liberal and a conservative is that a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged. It is true though that the best republicans have been former democrats. Look at Ronald Reagan and Bret Shundler, hell I'll begrudgingly even note Rudy Guillani.(though he is anything but conservative).

Out of curiosity, why did you find it necessary to 'needle' your husband? Was it the Dem party platform or the actual candidates that made you a Dem in the first place? Can you provide further insight on why so many women are Dems? Is it the 'Mommy state' thing?
Whatever the reasons, I join your husband in welcoming you to the right side of the aisle.

I guess I first became a democrat by default, growing up in a democratic family. My parents absolutely worshipped JFK (they still do). I don't even think I knew too much about the differences between the parties when I registered to vote, I just went with what my family was.
After I got married, and my husband would ask me about why I was a democrat, why I didn't switch to his party (republican), and I would tease him that I had to stay and cancel out his vote. But, more and more, as I studied the candidates and issues, I would vote republican more often than not. I guess I always felt that it really didn't matter what "party" you belonged to, just how you voted that counted. But, after the past administration, I realized I couldn't, in good conscience, be connected in any way to the democratic party.
I wonder how many other women are out there, like I was. Registered as a democrat, but not one really where it counts, in your heart. DINO's, I guess. Who knows???

What to do about my screen name?
Could I suggest Gratefulwharffmouse?

Now on to my next dilemma .....What to do about my screen name? Keep it! It's an asset.
I grew up as a liberal, but slowly changed to a Conservative over about 15 years. What made the major inroads into the change were 2 things: (1) I'd always been pro-life at heart, even though I put it on the back burner in some of the 80's years, and (2) I picked up a book about Libertarianism in the bargain bin at a bookstore as a gift for someone. Turns out I read the book several times, simply because I was so brainwashed that I couldn't understand what they were talking about until I read it a couple of times.

Welcome honey, I love seeing women, like myself, switch over to the GOP. Proves your smart and beautiful.
