Immigrants like that person aren't why Hillary got elected-- people who speak perfectly good English (but are amoral and unwise, and star-struck by Clinton-Camelot) put Hillary into office. They put Dinkens in office, and Bill twice, and it took near anarchy to put Rudy in office. New Yorkers created a culture unto themselves. That's why they can stand to live there.

I'm saying that generations vote in the same bloc. New York has been a liberal town because of the influx of so many nationalities and ethnicities. That is what makes it a cultural mecca. Voters here are attracted by the glitz and glamour of power-brokers just like they are anywhere else. She won because New Yorkers wanted the "party machine" just like they'll probably elect Green for mayor here. I don't think Pataki or anyone else could have beaten her. It's unfair to Rick Lazio to say he lost because he wasn't the right choice of the Republican party. But, his polical career is not over and she will get what's coming to her one day, but how and when remains to be seen.
