Freedom House Calls for Action after Pakistan Massacre
Crosswalk | November 7, 2001

The Freedom House Center for Religious Freedom has condemned the Oct. 28 massacre of 16 Christians inside a church in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, and issued a call for action.

The organization has called on the U.S. government and its allies to combat the growing al-Qaida-linked persecution of religious minorities around the world, according to a press release by Freedom House. The persecution in Pakistan and elsewhere is part of a pattern apparent before Sept. 11, said Freedom House. Even in Pakistan, Christians are currently on "death row" for vague blasphemy charges.

"The intensification of persecution of Christians and other non-Muslims by radical Islamists over the past five years has been amply documented by Freedom House, church groups, and the U.S. State Department," said Nina Shea, director of the Center for Religious Freedom. Six assailants opened fire inside the Pakistani church, killing 16 men, women and children during a two-minute shooting spree.

This is "the most recent example of thousands of Christians who have been killed and persecuted by those instigated or supported by Islamist terrorist networks in Egypt, Nigeria, Sudan, Indonesia and the Philippines," Shea said. "The Bush administration should take effective action to protect these vulnerable communities.

The organization has called on the U.S. government and its allies to combat the growing al-Qaida-linked persecution of religious minorities around the world, Sadly, this is closely akin to the outcome of furthering the Wahhabism sect of Islam practiced in Saudi Arabia and central to the subjugation-based Islam of al Qaida and the Taliban.

I know we cannot conquer the world all at once. BUT, my fear is that "once the caves are cleared", we will leave the job undone.

I share that same concern, dear Lady, for the resolve of the American people will no doubt be manipulated every way from Sunday by the exploitative democrats and other power seekers (some pubbies).

The specter of John McCain looking for any chink in the camapign upon which he can create and exploit divisiveness for political capital scares the daylights out of me ... the American Sheeple haven't proven themselves capable of discernment with the last eight years of deviant x42 and his commie wife, so I'm not hopeful for future correct vision when the real cutting is at hand.

Terrorism has shown an effect that will not be ignored in the futrure by radicalized factions worldwide. Religious based evil like we witness with Wahhabism gone vicious will only exploit terrorism more, now that our responses have been so measured, without the ruthless tactics the terrorist types respect alone, and our response could not be ruthless, as Americans of espoused ideals.

Therein lies another of the sources of my fears, our felicitous adherence to our espoused ideals because of our lack of clarity on those ideals now corroded so much by PC foolishness.

Yes, you're correct.
We've a history of leaving caves uncleared & jobs undone.

My studies are preoccupying my life right now. Within the next week I will look into this information.

(I don't know how students have traditionally been the political activists and rabble-rousers of nations...because between studying, exams, reports, and still being a part-time homemaker - I barely have time to get in five hours of sleep per night.)

Well, it is obvious, after all; rabble rousers aren't the real students working for grades and degrees, rather they are the rabble seeking an excuse to avoid real responsibilities and the real work of building and maintaining civilization! You, sister, are the real student, the real society, the real sovereign-type of this Republic. Thank God for you, too!

Call congress and the White House and demand terrorism be wiped out in Indonesia, the Sudan, the Spice Islands, Pakistan, and all nations that use religion to terrorize others.

There are so many persecuted Christians around the world it would make your head spin. These murders remind me of "Foxe's Book of Martyrs" . . . a classic, sobering read.

Justice be done, and soon.

God bless you, LGE!

God bless you, LGE!

And you too, my friend.

make your head spin

I pray that we (our country) will do the job against terrorism and persecuation to the full extent it can given the current opportunity and NOT STOP SHORT as we have been known to do in the past. I fear I am already hearing hints that we may do so again. Pray for wisdom in our leaders, please.

Your so right, LGE, we cannot stop now in our war against terrorism.
IMO, we need to persevere to the end, coalition or no coalition.

Netanyahu was on Fox News the other night voicing his expertise on the war. I wholeheartedly agree with him that if we have to do it alone, so be it! Terrorism must be rooted out. He is a man I have the highest respect and admiration.

President Bush and his administration are in my prayers daily.
