Your BS meter is the PERFECT synopsis of his sorry episode on ABC. Gore a ' statesman ' ? Oh ROLL ME OVER WITH A FEATHER! Gore doesn't even know who he is, yet.

That Woodward perceives Gore as a "statesman" tells me all I will ever need to know about old Bob. Gore carved himself a place in history by doing something that no candidate before him had ever done. When it came down to it, Gore cared more about winning (by hook or by crook) than he cared about this country. At no time, and after no count or recount did Gore ever lead in the votes but he pushed it all the way to the Supreme Court. He turned the election into some kind of OJ soap opera. In doing so, he devalued the office of president and our election process-- but considering what his old boss did to that office, why am I surprised?

Kangaroo, you said it right on target. And Howlin, that exchange in Ephron's book is hysterical even now, what fifteen or twenty years later.

So tell me, Mr. Woodward, where were you and deep throat during the past 8 years?

Deep Throat is as real as Bill Casey's deathbead confessions.
Editor Bradely needed 2 sources to run the Watergate stories and 'Deep Throat' gave him that cover.

I read the book, saw the movie. The book was better. I remember devouring it and my husband watching with a certain nervousness. The best payback ever to a wandering husband!!
