ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Nov 10, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- In a sudden breakthrough that may open Afghanistan to convoys of humanitarian supplies and provide a staging area for accelerated air attacks, opposition forces occupied the northern city of Marav-e-Sharif, both sides confirmed Saturday. The radio station formerly held by the Taliban heralded the turn of events, while Taliban spokesmen called the operation a strategic withdrawal.
