Yuck.
LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!
I'm an idiot.
THREE days into the 7th on Sixth shows, the trends have started to emerge. But all the talk around the catwalk is
still of Saturday's Heatherette show. Designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains burst onto the New York schedule by sending
New York socialite Amanda Lepore running down the catwalk wearing nothing but a lick of lurid pink paint. Under the
art direction of the designers' fashionable friend, photographer David LaChapelle, the show opened with a video
of party animal Lepore smothering her body with a lipstick called 'Heatherette', which had been exclusively created
for her by MAC. As the mini-feature ended, Lepore appeared to break out of the screen and onto the catwalk grinning
wildly at the stunned audience. "It was their first on-schedule show and they wanted to be noticed," says a
rep. "And it seemed to work. Everybody loved it." The remainder of the show was equally high-voltage, with
cropped off-the-shoulder peasant tops and flirty pelmet ra-ra skirts worn over dotted or lacy tights and an array of T-shirts
emblazoned with the words 'lucky' or simply 'look at me'. Not a label for shrinking violets
