"Atlantis" was a myth totally invented by Plato. Whatever this is, it's not Atlantis -- if nothing else, there wasn't any contact between the west and east hemispheres!

Why are the ancient Chapapoya Indians of Peru blond-haired then?

Well now we know about YOUR credibility. There is WAY too much evidence on the archaeological record of pre-Columbian trade between the Americas and the Afro/European region for you to make an assertion like that responsibly.

Would you care to explain how Egyptian (africa) mummies have been found with nicotine and cocaine (native american plants)in them then ??
A lot of what we call historical truth can be revealed as WAGS(wild ... guesses).

Actually it's always been an amazing tightrope walk along Occam's razor to suggest that the construction of astrologically aligned Pyramids in Mexico and Egypt were a giant coincidence. Besides that, the ancient Olmec statues with features of both black and white people in Mexico has to be considered evidence of east-west contact.
"Martin Bernal, a historian of Cornell University, says it is important to remember that before the discovery of this Norse settlement in Newfoundland in 1965, theories about Viking voyages to America were dismissed as nonsense. What we have seen is a shift from the idea of Viking landings in America being seen as completely fantastic or partisan, to being accepted by every scholar in the field."
From here you'll find that quote and more info about botanical products that may have been traded much earlier than thought.

if nothing else, there wasn't any contact between the west and east hemispheres! Actually, there is evidence that there was contact between the east and west hemispheres. Scientists have discovered ruins of ancient statues of men with beards in South America that date back thousands of years. They have also discovered similar busts and statues of people with European features in the south Atlantic in places like Easter Island, and a few other places.
Artifacts have also been discovered in these places that don't fit with the geological background. Many scientists believe these artifacts are European in origin.

They have found that the mummies of Egypt contain high amounts of Nicotene and Coca. The best way explain that is that the was trade between the East and the West long before Columbus.

Plato was not known for fantasy stories (we aren't talking Middle Earth here) and I've never heard of anything which indicated that he was not just repeating a legend which existed in his time. If you have any evidence to the contrary, a lot of us would be interested in hearing it.

You appear to be horribly misinformed.

there wasn't any contact between the west and east hemispheres! When making such sweeping and authorative statements it is generally more acceptable to follow same with your name and the letters Ph.d.
An exclaimation point doesn't carry quite the same weight.

there wasn't any contact between the west and east hemispheres! How do you mean? Exchange of government ambassadors? Sea trade? Migration?
To: Thornwell Simons
How can you possibly be so sure? I can imagine a certitude that it DID exist, being based maybe on inadequate data, but how much LESS sensible is an attitude like what you have expressed, that you can already know based upon no data at all, what the ultimate result of possibly centuries or millennia of scientific investigation will be! Arrogant.
Don't tell me, but think to yourself: What discovery could be made that would change my mind. If the answer is "none," then you are not a scientist but a mystic, and not even a smart mystic.
