Survey finds 10 partners before marriage 'normal'

The majority of young people think it is normal for a person to have at least 10 sexual partners before marriage.

A survey has also found that three in 10 believe it is acceptable for a girl to lose her virginity before the age of 15.

Research carried out by Brook, the youth sex advisory service, says there is a "cultural change" in young people's attitudes towards sex.

Some 64% of men and 54% of women agreed that it was acceptable for a person to sleep with more than 10 partners before getting married.

But the survey, which questioned people aged 17 to 25, also showed that they wanted more information about sex and contraception.

Men admitted to getting most of their knowledge about contraception from TV and magazines, while women learned the most from magazines and their mothers.

Half of all the young women surveyed said they wished that teachers had supplied them with more information about preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

Brook chief executive Jan Barlow said: "Young people have an increasing number of sexual partners and they are saying that's OK.

"But at the same time they don't have the information and access to services that they need.

"Young people must seek out advice and information in order to make their choices and to understand how to protect themselves both against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases."

All they need to make their life complete is a little more sex education.

Sounds like a self-serving attitude.

Men admitted to getting most of their knowledge about contraception from TV and magazines, while women learned the most from magazines and their mothers.

Gosh, why don't they tell us what tv shows and magazines? With programs like "Undressed" and "Queer as Sex" on tv and magazines like "Cosmopolian" around, it is no wonder there is a lack of morals and knowing a person's sexual history is a matter of life and death.

It's a completely different scene. Words like faithfulness, virtue, and purity mean nothing these days. Fat chance finding a virgin to start a family with, most of this country has willingly bastardized their own kids with divorce and pre-marital stuff, blah blah blah

A survey has also found that three in ten believe it is acceptable for a girl to lose her virginity before age 15.

Where do they find these mutants?

There are many parents raising their daughters *and* sons to be pure before marriage. We're out there, Darheel. Don't lose hope. ;o)

Don't do unto others as you would have them do unto you--unless it involves sex.

Ruth, most of the sitcoms and teen magazines are filled with this sort of nonsense. It is a propaganda effort that has had great success. We now have a nation without morals.

We live in a sewer, and it does smell down here.

"Where do they find these mutants?"

These mutants are the nation's young people. We are reaping what we have sown.

While the culture is declining, there is still a certain amount of shame. I know many girls who will only admit to 9 sexual partners when it is quite clear they have had more. Sort of like the multiple 39th birthdays a lot of women have. No woman wants to be forty and no girl wants to be "double-digits" in sexual partners.

These mutants are this nation's young people.

Thank you M-TV, Hollywood, and the Public School system for teaching the kids what's really important in life -- the "art" of stretching a condom over a banana, and sex-ed at age 9.

While these parents are rasing their kids to be pure, do they also teach contraception and protection from STDs?

It will soon be a public school requirement that girls must lose their virginity before 15.

The whole AIDS, STD, and out of wedlock pregnancy rates in this country are a crock when you look at the reality and

pervasiveness of promiscuity. Logic tells you that saving sex for marriage, and honoring God and His Word will

result in a better chance for a long and healthy life.

Reason gets tossed in the name of an open, free, God-hating society. God bless America??? Yeah, right!

Too bad these same people who are waving the flag NOW after 911 are living their lives, by and large, by the god of their own flesh.

BTW...not all attractive females sleep around, and share their bodies casually. Some of us have more self-respect

than that. Saving it for marriage? This 37-year old still believes in that. So do many of my friends.

Only MOST of this country has gone to hell. NOT all.

Feel for you. 37 is a long time to wait. Hope you find someone soon! I respect your decision but dont know how you do it. Cant understand how you can concentrate without or function without sex for that long. Muslims cant wait on Earth for sex and therefore blow themselves up for those 72 virgins. Patience is a virtue and you and your friends seem to have it!!!
