No, she directly blames Bush's policy against the use of secret evidence (Bush even emphasized this position in one of the presidential debates last year) for the failure to arrest Moussaoui, the man indicted a few days ago for his role in the 9/11 attacks.

Debbie Schlussel is a Conservative Republican.

Congressman Issa was recently blasting Air France for not allowing him to board a plane to Saudi Arabia. He had purchased a one way ticket with cash and arrived late to the gate. Upon return from his trip to the Middle East the good Congressman declared Hezbolla an innocent organization not guilty of any terror acts at all.

Issa DEFENDED Hizbollah, the folks who made the bomb that hit the USS COLE.

So sorry....He's a scummy guy.

And if anyone else wants an education on Rep. Issa, I heartily recommend a trip over to fec.gov. Check out his donor list, especially the money coming in from committees.

I think Issa and Hilliary have been swapping donor lists.

I have to agree with #91.

The US must leak like a sieve on intelligence matters in general, so is it unlikely that even our friends would be spying on us? Heck, Monica Lewinsky and even Chandra Levy might've been Israeli agents. Clinton and Condit sure seemed ripe for the picking.

We should just assume it's being done, though continue our commitment to one of the only countries in the world that continues to seize the initiative to act, as opposed to perpetual victims who'd rather sit around on their hands, or blackmail the world by terror, demanding that statehood and/or respect merely be handed them.

I was against secret evidence, too, before 9/11. Now, I see it differently, because before 9/11, I didn't think anything like this could really happen to my country. Some in the media and politics were warning us about it, but I thought it was their typical scaremongering. Actually, I still think they were scaremongering, since they didn't know any better than anyone else that this was going to happen. Arabs typically talk much bigger than they walk, but the media folks tend to take them literally.

More from Schlussel:

"Bush, at his first address to a joint session of Congress declared the end of secret evidence and profiling and, in February, issued a directive to Attorney General John Ashcroft to "work in cooperation with state and local law enforcement to assess the extent and nature of any such practices."

Because of this, FBI agents missed the opportunity to discover and prevent the attacks"

How can you deny that Schlussel blames Bush's policy against the use of secret evidence for the 9/11 attacks?

It's undeniable. Schussel blames Bush. I know what I heard her say to Lee Klein. Lee was thrilled. He loves a conspiracy and he hates Bush.

OK, I read Debbie S's piece on Issa. Let me say that I have never liked Issa (I voted against him when he first ran in the primary, and now vote Libertarian in the general, because the guy is a sleezeball, that does indeed have trouble telling the truth), and if my home was not drawn out of his district, I would vote for the Dem against him, and against him in the primary of course. Having said that, I don't trust Debbie. Debbie appears to be a bit of a b - itch.

What bothers me about Debbie. Well what bothers me is this:

"Pro-Hezbollah utterances by Issa, similar to those in The Tehran Times, were reported by Lebanon's Beirut Daily Star, Syria's National News Agency and even in his own past comments before the committee on which he sits, the House International Relations Committee. Does the Congressional Record lie? "

Nice quote. Naturally I raced through the article looking for the Congressional Record quote, or indeed any of the quotes. I'm still looking. That is not only shoddy journalism, that is - well - being a b - itch.

And I just read her columns about Issa in worldnetdaily. She doesn't pull any punches about Issa, does she?

I know everyone does it to everyone else; it's part of the game. But it's also part of the game to aggressively pursue spies who act against the U.S. and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. Every spy, from every country, knows the consequences if they're caught by any particular country. That's part of the game, too.

Well then I must admit I have encountered the phenomenon of two commentators, both named Debbie Schlussel, one of whom is a hard right conservative, and the other a "vicious left-winger".

And what of blaming the policy? Does that somehow make her a "vicous left-winger"? To question or criticize Bush isn't to become left wing.
