The drug war vs. the war on terror
Chicago Tribune ^ | December 13, 2001 | Steve Chapman

On Oct. 25, six weeks after the worst terrorist atrocities in our history, the United States was bombing Afghanistan, Colin Powell was discussing a post-Taliban government, investigators were grappling with anthrax in the mail, and federal agents were . . . well, they were going after pot smokers in California. If John Ashcroft had been around during the Chicago fire, he would have been handcuffing jaywalkers.

As they pop open a cold beer or take a shot of whiskey and smoke a cig. Yet have the nerve to preach to us on 'the dangers of drugs'. Why do I have the sudden urge to vomit?

Hmm, Rudolph Guiliani got the pot smokers and crackheads off the streets

You believe that, do you? He just swept his magic wand and *poof* they're gone? You've GOT to be kidding. Can you cite a source for this "fact"?

"I have no problem with Jack booted thugs when they're used against the right people. In this case, law breaking druggies are the right people. No mercy, no peas."

Bookmarked for the next time you self-tout your 'constitutional credentials'.

[pssst, - your hypocrisy is showing]

[Both are a thread to our way of live]

I guess that you're sort of overlooking the fact that drugs are already illegal and drug use has continued unabated despite the "war on drugs". Give us your plan for winning this "war".

Oh and Crime in Britian has actully gone down

Oh really? Then I guess those stories on FR about people not allowed to defend themselves in their home in England are just made up.

Oh BTW, have fun with every dreg in Europe coming through the Chunnel to get their free heroin.

(British)Police want to supply free heroin

Do you put drugs such as marijuana, crack, and heroin on the same moral plane as the Bible and firearms

You need to give up on this strawman. That's not what's being said. The Democrats DO put firearms on the same moral plane as drugs, and when they're in power they will use the JBTs you love so much to go after them. Do I have to draw a picture with crayons for you?

I have to agree that heroin and coke are bad, I watched a family member let crack destroy his life. But MJ? I follow the old saying: Man made alcohol, God made MJ. Who do you trust?

Alpowolf, VA isn't a conservative, he's a republican. Let's keep our terminology straight, shall we? ;-)

I'm a conservative who recognizes the fact that the GOP is the biggest obstacle to conservatism in the country. Of course, the GOP wants to pretend that they are conservative, but they aren't and never have been. They've managed to gull conservatives into voting for their socialist candidates but that's about it for republican conservatism.

You mean the story about Tony Martin no that is not made up, it is a true story and his case has been sent to the High courts to be reassessed.

I did not say we have no crime I said crime has gone down, that means less crime not no crime, sorry if that was not clear enough for you.

Cheers Tony

I wasn't aware that the purpose of law was to enforce a certain groups moral code on others. The taliban tried that in Afganistan recently with mixed opinions about the results.

re : (British)Police want to supply free heroin.

A great title.

I have taken part in both the WOT and the WOD, I have many friends who are part of the fight against drugs and it is a losing battle, a black hole that sucks in resources that could be used elsewhere.

Hey, you're back. This article contained a memorable line:

"If John Ashcroft had been around during the Chicago fire, he would have been handcuffing jaywalkers".

Ashcroft is too busy trying to carry on Clinton's agenda for the DoJ. He can't be bothered with anything else.

Yep that's why the taliban made their money by growing and marketing heroin.

Seems that the talban and Libertarians both like drugs.

I love watching the Drug Warrriors become apoplectic in response to the UK and Western Europe's abandonment of the U.S. Drug War model.

If you think that Western Europe, especially England is so great, why don't you move there. You can smoke all the weed you want, get free heroin from the government, and they even speak the language(except you may have trouble understanding the cockney accent). But watch out if you want to defend yourself in your own house.

Geez, clean off the facts you pull out of there before you drop them in this forum.

Or at least wear gloves... ewwww!

Not interested in heroin, free or otherwise, and I can smoke all the weed I want right here in the good ol' USA.
