Ok, the Salvation Army bellringer just annoyed the heck out of me. I tossed in some money. The bellringer said Happy Holidays. I said Merry Christmas. She couldn't let me get away with that one. She said, we always say Happy Holidays.
I thought the Salvation Army was a Christian organization. Their web site even mentions Christ. But their bellringers can't get out the words, Merry Christmas? So much for me contributing any more money to these people.
Even in Sioux Falls, SD, political correctness is in.

Maybe the volunteer was Jewish, yet still wanted to help a charity during the holidays.
Maybe the volunteer was of some other faith, but was still moved by the spirit of charity.
Maybe the volunteer had no religious convictions at all, and yet still wished to help.
It's good to see you're every bit as much an obnoxious grouch outside FR, as you are here.

Sioux Falls Bump! Actually, we're in Georgia, but my wife is from Sioux Falls and we're heading that way Saturday.
"Even in Sioux Falls" isn't that Dashole's[sic] district?

Usually this sort of thing bothers me, too. But in this instance, it could be that they're hoping to draw even more donations by being sort of "non-denominational." The Salvation Army in my area (very politically correct county) are a good organization, and every dollar stays in this county. I like that fact. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. But I CAN see your point.
Oh, and by the way, MERRY CHRISTMAS, Mr. Myers!!

Sounds too hard to tell for me. If the bellringer responded to a simple "Merry Christmas" as described, then it is the bellringer with the problem. If the person who posted this article said more than "Merry Christmas" -- specifically saying somthing to imply that his/her saying "Merry Christmas" is better than the bellringer saying "Happy Holidays" -- then you have a point.

Must be. Anyone can tell that when she said "we always say Happy Holidays," she wasn't just referring to herself.

I heard on radio yesterday that Salvation Army is either being sued or there is some kind protest against them because they do not provide the same benefits to gays as to merried employees.
Of course it is the government policy that dictates taxes for merried and un-merried employees - but the gays hunta demands that Salvation Army "recognize" that gays can not merry and therefore!!! treat them as merried.
At this crucial time of the year where most of the donations are made they organized a boycot asking people not to give the Salvation Army.

I just sent an email to the local television station asking them to do a piece on it.
