LETTER TO THE EDITORS
WASHINGTON TIMES
December 20, 2001
WHEN ENDS JUSTIFY MEANS
Your Dec. 17 story by Audrey Hudson, "Rare lynx hairs found in forests exposed as hoax," performed a genuine service to all Americans.
For years, radical environmentalists, some in government employment, have skewed and falsified data in scientific studies to achieve political goals, and no one was the wiser. Your story certainly lifted the rock and let the sun shine on that subject.
However, you could have served the public even better by digging further into the motives of those planting false environmental evidence.
Listening to those on the receiving end of environmental regulations, you likely would hear that the motives include the shutdown of virtually every human enterprise and the removal of all human presence from rural areas all over the nation, not just in the West.
You probably would discover that any hardworking local making such outlandish accusations inevitably faces an overwhelming outcry of "conspiracy theory" or "paranoia."
You could clarify the subject greatly by reporting on the individuals who perpetrated this lynx hoax. What did they have in mind?
It might reveal that some conspiracy theories actually reveal conspiracies and that even if you are paranoid, someone may actually be out to get you.

Click on source URL link to see how media coverage of this hoax is expanding. Also how 15 members of Congress have asked the Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior for a thorough investigation.
This incident lengthens the shadow over all government and green groups' analysis of endangered species and the resulting restrictions placed on human activity in rural areas.

The big question reamains, will Dan Rather report on this story?
To: Conservative
Ron is right about this one and his standards of documentation are usually rigorous. Still, he seldom proposes what to do about the cabal of green terrorists working for government agencies and wealthy "non-profit" foundations, other than to say we need less of it. It's a no-win strategy because it does nothing to replace an intrinsically dysfunctional system.

It would be simple if this was the only hoax ever perpetrated by the enviromental geniuses. This is the tip of the iceberg. Allowing the religion of Nature Uber Alles to infiltrate our government shows why the Founders were so opposed to state sponsorship of religion.

An article in my local paper today said the two state biologists involved in the submission of samples would be barred from further research work; the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is not planning to discipline the five federal biologists involved and will not release their names. Once again, those working for the federal government are not held accountable.

The coverup of the perpetrators is the bigger crime here. Exposing their sorry butts should be a top priority. What they did is or should be a felony for betraying the trust of all Americans and not just extending their wacky enviroreliguous beliefs.

Amazing!
I took a graduate class in environmnetal studies last year. I am amazed how socialist this grad. program has become.
As a educator, and naturalist during the summer, I have watched over the years in what was a pretty legitimate field in environmental concerns, become an absolute marxist approach in teaching about conservation. This type of thing doesn't surprise me.
Perhaps Sept. 11th will serve as a reminder that we neeed to put priorities in taking care of each other first, and then continue to work to be good stewards of the earth.

I heard the research moratorium was three years. A hand slap. Anyone in the US military who exibited such a lack of integrity would be O U T.
