Just on the local media-'Shreveport Louisiana-State Police are reporting a heightened state of security after recieving a tip with a thinly veiled threat.
Troopers stated that the Independence Bowl would follow a pattern set forth with the verbage that Islamic extremists hate....American, United, World Trade Center, Independence..the specific stadium has just undergone renovations which increased the capacity to over fifty thousand.'
This would seem to be a logical target

Baba will get the death penalty when UCLA will be held acountable for all those players Wooden 'recruited' in basketbll for UCLA back in the 60's and 70's.

Try Coloardo vs. Oregon, the real 'Championship'game.
To: billbears
Like someone else said there will be about 50,000 rednecks with guns looking for action.
To: codebreaker
I detest, absolutely detest, the Ducks, but if Oregon beats Colorado and Miami loses, the Ducks have as good a claim to number one as anyone.

LOL!! Or Clintoon's 'summer party bardge'
To: VMI70
Nah, just local cops being extra careful.
To: codebreaker
Auburn fans, most likely. Bomb the stadium with various types of farm animal excrement.
To: concerned about politics
But the Clinton Library would be a prime target. After all, Helen Thomas told us that he spent eight years pointing out that terrorism was our number one threat!!!! (/sarcasm)
To: paddles
Besides, what terrorist would strike at a stadium full of gun-toting rednecks? I live in North LA. Not so many "rednecks" here as further South, but you're definitely right in saying that any raghead or otherwise that tries something stupid will definitely NOT get out of the stadium.
Can anyone find any verification of this "threat"? I can't find anything here local.

This is all paranoia from the folks at Tider Insider-- they think the world is out to get them perpetually. If it is true, the terrorist could be from any SEC school because we all hate Bumma.
Bear Bryant was an Arkansan
To: Arkinsaw
Alabama-Iowa State? I think the terrorists are probably aiming for a higher profile attack than this pathetic bowl game.

If they are the Iowa State "Cyclones" why does that tornado have the head of a cardinal? I don't get it.As an alumni, I always wondered the same thing. I think it is so that we can have a mascot to compete with Herky the Hawk at U of Iowa.
To: Azzurri
Actually in the terrorist's demented heads this might actually make sense.
College Football fans know that this is a second tier bowl game for the also rans of the major conferences.
But to morons from the Middile East, it is the 'Independence Bowl' and has symbolic meaning..sounds like the sneaker bomb guy had something to do with this

Is it a large cardinal trapped inside of a Stage 5 twister?
To: Arkinsaw
If they are the Iowa State "Cyclones" why does that tornado have the head of a cardinal? I don't get it.ISU colors are cardinal and gold, plus it's much easier to make a mascot out of an animal than a freak windstorm. The mascot is named "Cy", by the way.
ISU trivia: home of the first digital computer, first public TV station. Alma mater of George Washington Carver, Hewlitt & Packard, agronomist and Nobel Peace Prize winner John R. Mott.
Located in Ames, ISU is Iowa's principle cow college. It is not to be confused with the State University of Iowa, the original name of the infinitely-more prestigious and sophisticated University of Iowa in Iowa City.

No, what they did, with the help of Hedges and Gerberdink, was to allow the wannabes and the has beens to get revenge for getting their butts kicked year in and year out.
The "infractions" against the UW were such heinous crimes as:
1) accepting a fruit basket and jacket from a local radio station. (Billy Joe Hobert)
2) Lincoln Kennedy gave a potential recruit $20 to go watch a movie so LK could hang out with his girlfriend.
The main reason behind Don James sudden retirement was Hedges and Gerberdink would not take a stand against these "charges".
Of course while all this was going on U Miami was allowing their players to commit fraud against the US government by falsifying PELL grant application under Dennis Erickson. Miami's penalty was 1 year probation.
The UW got 2 years probation, no TV games for 1 year, and loss of scholarships, not to mention getting stuck with Jim Lamebrain as the coach for the next 4 years!!
I have many friends and Alumni still say that they will always root for all PAC 10 teams over the rest of the nation. But NOT ME. I will never forget what our conference did to us. The vote was 9-0 for these sanctions.
Go DAWGS, beat them HORNS
PS. I hope Colorado destroys the ducks and firmly plant joey harrington 6 feet under!!
