How about we first get to a place where the Founders' intent is honored and common sense readings of the Consitution prevail

Roscoe is not going to go there.

Nor am I.

Yet you seem to say that YOUR taxes, YOUR tariffs, YOUR laws and YOUR version of freedom should be acceptable to all.

Then you obviously must side with liberals a lot because they can come up with reasons to push more and more of these same things on to people everyday?

What is funny is that they say our ideas don't have a chance at the ballot box. However, I don't see to many of theirs winning either...

Regarding your SS, you need to send back every dollar you make beyond what you paid in, plus interest. Anything after that is hypocracy money.

Who gets to decide on the interest rate?

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.

A moral and religious people will be more than glad to teach and preach the evils of recreational drug use.

The moment they cross the line into legislating against the evils of recreational drug use, they cease to be a moral and religious people.

Why should we as a society throw away centuries and centuries of precedence just to make the thin-skinned, the paranoidal, and the debauched feel good about themselves and their flakey, unproven ideology?

Great question!

Roscoe, In all honesty, why do you participate in threads when you have no intention of involving yourself other than one line, incoherent statements?

Yes, our is correct, however, when liberals impose more taxes and such it is okay with you because it is yours as much as it is theirs.

At least that is what you seem to be saying.

Oh come on, harmless fun shrinking the heads of debate opponents. Since he hinted he was not the would-be politician Ollie McCaully, and also hinted I was wrong to think he is a cop, I'm thinking current or former prison guard.

I'm become a little sensitive to personal attacks as of late. I had a total JERK offend me so much the other day that had we been talking in person ... well ... anyway I do think it is bad taste to attack someone personally no matter their particular views. I don't agree with Roscoe AT ALL but I'm not going to personally attack him. I might call a drug warrior dishonest or even stupid ... but I try not to say things that I would not say to their face. To do so is a sign of cowardise ... I'm not saying what you did was so bad ... but it seemed that it was starting down that path ... IMO

I have seen that debate several times on the forum but I haven't studied it enough to have formed an opinion. I still wonder why it is wrong to elect senators instead of them being appointed.

The point is discussed in Bastiat's "Trial by Jury". The idea is that to have a law that will command more-or-less unanimous respect, it needs to be subject to veto by a number of individuals and institutions, chosen by different means and representing diverse interests. The people are represented by the House, the States by the pre-17th Senate. Now the Senate is like the House, its members can be elected by promising the voters goodies. For example, there would not be unfunded mandates if they had to pass a Senate that had to answer to the madatees.

IMO, direct election of the Senate was one of the worst disasters we have inflicted on ourselves.

Well now, how is reseaching his link to a Republican candidate for assembly somehow insulting? Exactly the opposite! Roscoe is less of a doofus for this. Roscoe may turn out to be a very interesting guy.
