Thanks to you for your #873 to the Gonzo fool. You are succint but are still very thorough. The next question, IMHO, is will this thread ( and the constant deletion by the forum secret police ) cause many to abandon FR? Surely, many now think less of a 'not free' republic. I have pondered ( for the last week or two ) a small monthly stipend, via credit card, to pay for the space I have consumed & the agrevation I have caused the 'moderator'. Now I wonder if I am in the wrong place entirely. Fear of comments that may offend is a strange fear, indeed. One wonders who or what the moderator fears, so much as to delete people & the things they say. The FR has been very useful for finding the headlines & stories of interest but I shall look around the web some more.

I believe the discussion of this issue is important. But you have to realize that it really does tread a pretty fine line. Sometimes people cross that line. Other times the moderator may simply feel that they crossed that line. In either case, comments may be deleted. To error is human. Both the writers and the moderators probably do make mistakes from time to time. I think the moderators do a pretty good job.

If the FR moderators allow clearly racist posts to remain on the forum, it will discourage those who wish to take part on a forum that is free from racism. Like I say, this is a tough subject to discuss totally free from those who will cross the line without thinking. I support the moderators who are trying to do something that needs to be done, but few of us are willing to help out with.

I tend to agree with your statement. I don't beleive I have ever had a post deleted, yet having seen many others deleted by the "secret police" as you put it, and most of those deleted, appeared to be very truthful and up front with no offensive wording. We are all adults here for crying out loud.

I also agree that this censorship, if continued, will eventually minimize the popularity and impact of the Free Republic.

I believe there are a certain group of people that continue to hit the panic button or abuse button everytime they see something they disagree with or does not meet their agenda. It appears that the moderators or secret police, are giving in to this politically correct group of people that continue to complain and hit the panic / abuse button.

Just my opinion.
