Do you really believe this? Haven't you seen "Reefer Madness?" That vile weed, one of nature's mistakes, is destroying countless lives across the nation! It must be stamped out now, before our entire culture rots from the inside out! Busting this insidious old biddy is a good first step, but there's a long way to go before we win this war. We cannot give up the fight, no matter the cost in money or lives long live the War on Drugs!!!
I haven't seen it and can't find it. Does Blockbuster rent it out? Family Video doesn't.
I saw a critique of it a couple years ago that stated it was the best propaganda film ever produced to get people to smoke pot. From what I read, they showed only good looking, young, athletic whites acting goofy and enjoying themselves. I don't remember if sex was portrayed; But since the time of its production was more puritanical, they probably just intimated something about girls "ruining" themselves.
In the mid 90's, "USA Today" published a list every Wednesday detailing all the houses, cars, boats and cash seized under "administrative forfeiture" by the federal government. (It was sort of a legal notice giving "interested parties" the right to appeal) The average for the 3 weeks I checked was $16 million. $842 million may not sound like much federal budget-wise but remember Everett Dirksen's saying "A billion dollars here, a billion dollars there and pretty soon you're talking about real money." Of course state and local law enforcement had their own scams going, too.
Couple the government's effort to get people to smoke pot and the "administrative forfeiture laws" (where you don't need a conviction or even trial or even charges being made) and you have a great conspiracy theory; except for the time span between them.
