Update:
One Fatality in Givat Ze’ev Shooting Attack
(15 January – 20:59) A Givat Ze’ev resident in her thirties was murdered by terrorist gunfire earlier this evening near the gas station at the entrance of the community, which borders the Ramot neighborhood of the northern capital. A second woman in the vehicle, in her fifties, apparently her mother, is reported in moderate-to-serious condition in the trauma unit of Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital. She sustained gunshot wounds in her chest.

The women were targeted by gunfire apparently by terrorists waiting in ambush in a vehicle. The victims filled the car with gas and were setting out on their way when 9mm gunfire was directed at them from a short distance away, near the gas station. As the terrorists spotted the white Fiat Uno, they opened fire with a 9mm weapon, aiming at the windshield of the victims’ car. The terrorist then fled the scene, most likely heading towards the Arab village of el-Jib.

The younger victim was pronounced dead on the scene of the attack that occurred in proximity to the entrance to Route 443, the alternate Jerusalem – Tel Aviv road.

Givat Ze’ev security officer Chanan Malka reported a short time ago that security forces are still operating in the area and the road remains closed as a result. The community’s first-response team remains on alert status and residents of Givat Ze’ev are instructed to remain close to their homes if possible.

This afternoon, 72-year-old Avi Boaz of Maale Adumim was lynched in PA-controlled Beit Sachur. His body displayed signs of extreme physical violence, ending by his being shot in his head and left for dead.

There has been no official response to the attacks from the Prime Minister’s Office but sources government sources indicated a response may be expected sooner, rather than later.
