To: Who is George Salt?
Obviously George, you, like many christians do not realize that as Paul said in Romans chapter 7:1-4 that christians are to consider themselves dead to living by law. That is to say that we are no longer judged by the law that God gave to the Jews. Law, living by rules of right and wrong come from the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil" First Corinthians 15:56 says that the power of sin is the Law. Romans says that law causes sin to arouse in us. Trying to convert someone to christianity by preaching law to them will just bring them under the law of sin and death. We are to tell them about Christ and why He died for mankind so that they could know that God loves us, his creation. We are to live by His Life and not by rules, values or moral law. When a Christian understands that God loves them not because of their obeying His law but because of their acceptance of Jesus, His gift to us, then living a good and moral life will come naturally from knowing and loving Him, not by trying to live by a set of rules and Godly laws that God gave specifically to show us that we could not possibly live by them. The law was given to show us that we are not perfect apart from Him, that we were sinners. The law was not given to make us righteous, but to show us we were not. Galations 3:20 says that "If a law were given that was able to make us righteous, then indeed, righteousness would have come by the law, .." But, as a christian it is important to know that we are made righteous simply by accepting Jesus Christ as our savior. He gets all the glory. Many christians try to teach the law to control others, but as the bible says, "It was for freedom, that Christ has set us free." The Law that gives sin it's power over mankind is what He set us free from. Could you accept a God like that? That is true christianity.

"That is to say that we are no longer judged by the law that God gave to the Jews."

In other words, christians are no longer bound by the Ten Commandments. Now THAT explains alot.

So what's with the crocodile tears when the Ten Commandments are removed from public buildings? They don't apply to you.
