[history]
The new Brooklyn borough president said "diversity" is making him take down a portrait of "old white man" George Washington that's hung in the office for years. Brooklyn Beep Marty Markowitz said he will probably hang a portrait of a black or a woman in his office in place of the country's first president, while moving the Father of Our Country elsewhere in Borough Hall.

Shades of the controversy over the firefighter sculpture commissioned by Forest City Ratner.
Pictures don't lie--that's why liberals and multiculturalists feel they have to be altered or removed.

"I respect history . . . but there has to be a recognition that this is 2002,"
Wouldn't a calendar help with that more than a painting?

"We don't have a clue who these folks are," Couldn't be folks like Ben Franklin, Patrick Henry, or John Hancock I suppose. Nah, school history teaching is too good to allow that to ever happen.

Um... he thinks 1789 never happened. I bet no school child in Brooklyn knows George Washington was the first President of the United States. Its ancient history.

Ye know what? They can take down all the pictures they like, and recreate mock-images in place of historical ones in the interests of `diversity', but their lame gestures will not change what is indelibly etched into the hearts of the people they are 'supposed' to represent. The truth always outs.

"There's not one picture of a person of color, not one kid, not one Latin. Borough Hall should reflect the richness of our diversity." Okay, Mr. Markowitz, let's draw up a list of all persons of color, kids and Latins who have accomplished something as extraordinary George Washington did. You go first.

Heard this weasel being interviewed on the radio today. Unfortunately the interviewer didn't ask the obvious question, at least it is to me: Why do you find the need to remove George Washington's picture when all you need do is hang another picture of your diversity on one of the other three walls. He tried to squirm out of it and one felt the need for a hot shower after listening to him.

"The new Brooklyn borough president said..." badababada~
Yea; this is symptomatic of how sick, self-hating our society has become these days, alright.
Nevertheless, it's the will and business of this Brooklyn borough's citizens.
So be it.
...& this Liberal pol instinctively knows how to play the room with the best of 'em; just like the one hiding out in Harlem.

Bump your post #3.
The mind boggles at the unknowing blankness of these creatures.
The political equivalent of cave-fish-- born without eyes.

Here's a PC solution: just make George Washington black and put the portrait back up. No more DEWM irrelevance to worry about.

Is this man an American?
His thinking is an insult to our country's history. There would be no Brooklyn borough, but for the courageous acts of this "...old White man..." and those who stood with him.
In a pig's eye; recall the bastard, or in the alternative, make his public life miserable. He has insulted every Citizen in America.

Anyone have this guy's e-mail address?
I think it's time for a-freepin' ...

Pictures don't lie--that's why liberals and multiculturalists feel they have to be altered or removed. Exactly!!!!! I watched a black race hustler on Hannity and Colmes the other night say the "truth is irrelevant" in discussing the memorial controversy.
This folks are nothing but an extension of Lenin, Trotsky, Uncle Joe, Beria, Goebbels, Himmler and friends. They make me absolutely loathe with disgust. Over the course of time they will do us more harm than our current Islamist enemies. I bet Markowitz is a self-hating liberal Jew who thinks Israel is in the wrong as well. Lying-ass-self-righteous scumbag!!!!!

I bet no school child in Brooklyn knows George Washington was the first President of the United States. What genuinely distresses me is that if Markowitz was a product of NYC public schools in the pre-political correctness days (as I was), he was certainly taught about Washington and the Founding Fathers, stood to say the Pledge of Allegiance before class every morning, and was taught patriotic songs. My elementary school classes were predominantly Jewish, as were my teachers, although we did also have pupils "of color" as the term is now, but no one tried to pretend that George Washington was or should have been Jewish or non-white. This does indeed indicate a sea-change in national consciousness in NYC if dirtbags like Moskowitz are taking actions like this one in order to do electoral pandering.

Didn't that happen, like, a thousand years ago or something? Who cares about things that old?

Pictures don't lie--that's why liberals and multiculturalists feel they have to be altered or removed. Elitist propaganda is for our own good Map. The next thing you'll want is the history books in public schools to be accurate and educational.
Quit being so hard to get along with.

Some people thought (still think?) that 9-11 would help bring an end to this PC stuff. Ha. Perhaps Mr. Markowitz will put up an Asian Harriet Tubman picture, to help capture our diversity of course, just like the WTC flag-raising sculpture will.<\end another rant at obvious PC-based revisionism>
