Ethiopia may have reached from India to Mexico at its peak. Some say the ark is in Axum. This is not Somalia.

Ancient civ bump

reached = traded with? Or are you claiming some kind of empire?
To: RightWhale
Interesting. I wonder why the Italians won't give it back?

Ethiopia was a huge region. There in Central America are the mysterious stone heads long before Christianity. Some think they were African, probably Ethiopian. Certainly not an empire, not in the sense of Alexander or Rome. A Semitic language, one of the early languages of the Christians. They had military power, but rarely used it and only in self-dense. Some say they had the ark and used it in war, which is how they could stop Euro invaders.

I wonder why the Italians won't give it back? I remember my parent's generation talking abour Mussolini's invasion of Ethiopia. They were still shaking their heads in disbelief even 10 years after the war. What was that all about?

Read a book years ago about the Ark of the covenant being in Ethopia, can't remember the name but it gave some prettin interesting conclusions as to where it was and why it was taken from there when it disappeared about the time of the Prophet Jeremiah and the fall of Jerusalem in 587 BC.

Ethiopia may have reached from India to Mexico at its peak. Yes, the plain of the Indus and the peaks of the Sierra Madre are littered with Ethiopian steles.
Anyway, Rome ought to send back what belongs to the Ethiopians. In this, more than any city on earth, it'd never be missed.

Perhaps the Ark is embedded within the monument, and the Vatican does not want to return it.

That book was fascinating. Inconclusive, but the story as the journalist traced the supposed path of the ark made that history come alive.

Rome ought to send back what belongs to the Ethiopians They intend to. They'll get around to it, there is no real hurry. It's 1700 years old, not like it's going to get past the expiration date. Got to round up 6 trucks and a boat.

"Ethiopians Want Ancient Monument"Well, if they want Helen Thomas, then by all means, they can have her.
To: RightWhale
It was by Graham Hancock. I believe the title is "The Sign and the Seal". I still have it somewhere. Good book.

Well, if they want Helen Thomas, then by all means, they can have her.LOL, and what have you got against the Ethiopians, away? Besides, she's supposed to be Lebanese in ancestry although she could pass for 1700 years old.

Axumite Heritage Foundation Interesting webpage. While they are claiming some amazing heritage for Axum, I believe they are understating the case. The history of Ethiopia is relatively untaught in school, yet it was very important to the world in its day. Very important to Christianity, yet nearly forgotten.

"There in Central America are the mysterious stone heads long before Christianity. Some think they were African, probably Ethiopian. " Read Ivan Van Sertima's 1975 book, The African Presence In Ancient America, They Came Before Columbus.
(shall I post the 11,500 year old picture of Luzia?)
