MOM Sentenced For KILLING Daughter

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A woman convicted of killing her 3-year-old daughter and entombing the toddler's dismembered body in concrete has been sentenced to a prison term of 25 years to life.

The crime was ``so horrific as to leave one speechless,'' Superior Court Judge Michael E. Pastor said as he sentenced Rakeisa Lanette Scott, 24.

Scott was convicted last April of second-degree murder in the death of Milan Anjonet Scott Wilson. She also was convicted of assault on a child causing death and child abuse resulting in death.

Scott, of Long Beach, tearfully pleaded for mercy but the judge was unmoved.

``I have no sympathy for Ms. Scott,'' Pastor said. ``I have tremendous sympathy for Milan and images that will last a lifetime.''

Two questions:
1) If she had the presence of mind to dismember the corpse and entomb it in a block of concrete, why was this not tried as a first degree murder?
2) If "[t]he crime was so horrific as to leave one speechless,'' why was she only sentenced to 25 years?
Instead of being executed, she'll be out, scot free, in five years.

If the murder was so 'horrific,' why not the death sentence? This was child abuse, then murder, which is an aggravating factor under most states' sentencing guidelines.

The appropriate penalty is repeated beatings with a piece of wood by a much larger person. To the death.

Remember: This was the death of a child. Children are held in very low esteem by this nation, in spite of all the whining about, "It's for the chiiiilldrennn!" My 2-year-old grandson was murdered in 1996, and his killer got 15 years. This country declared war on children in 1973, even though the opposing "army" is innocent, tiny, and helpless. If they survive pregnancy and birth, they are put in daycare centers, indoctrinated on the techniques of kinky cucmber/condom sex, and deprived of a faith in anyone except the nanny government.

My only consolation is this: The believers are having all their babies, then educating them at home. The opposition, on the other hand, appears to have a death wish, and is diligently aborting itself right out of existence.

Odd. Three days ago the live-in boyfriend was acquitted.

Why was she not given the death sentence?

I thought late term abortions were legal.

I'm so very sorry about your loss. You are correct, childen have been devalued, as have the old and infirm. We are truly on a slippery slope.

Unless she is kept in isolation in the pen, that may be what she gets. Those women in the general population won't look kindly on this kind of trash.

Only 25 years? Guess it was just a late term abortion.

Redhead, you are gravely arrogant and missinformed. I appologize for the loss of your grandbaby. Be careful you don't take it out on the rest of the world.

I am a born-again Christian. My 19 month old daughter is in a Christian Day Care and she absolutely loves it there. Not only is she getting a nurturing Christian background, but is having a blast doing it. I can tell because of the enthusiasm she displays upon ariving there. Not only that, but she's just as happy when I pick her up at the end of the day.

Believers are the only ones who educate their kids at home?

Who or what are you labeling as a "believer"?

How sad what led you to abandon your child to someone else's care ?

Well, for one thing, I'm not misinformed. If the rest of the country is anything like Minnesota, I fear we are lost. Minnesota has the highest rate of abortions in the country. It is a socialist paradise.

But, I'm afraid I haven't been "gravely arrogant" since my teenaged years, when I was ten feet tall and bulletproof. I'm not bitter about my grandson's murder. My problem is that his murderer only got 15 years. Is that enough for a toddler's life? But as for "taking it out on the rest of the world," I'm afraid I'm only reporting what I see. I'm sorry if I stepped on your toes.

"Who or what are you labeling as a "believer"?

I apologize. "Believers" was a bad choice of words. I meant that there are many good Christian Americans who choose to homeschool. There are also lots of good Christian Americans who take an active part in their children's education in private schools. There are lots of nice Christian daycare centers. I should have been more specific in my first post.

Anyone murdering one of my grandchildren (when I have them -- not necessarily far away) will be advised to plead guilty, take the maximum, and stay in the pen as long as possible. If that in-DUH-vidual is lucky, I will have died of old age before they get out. Otherwise they will discover that their capital sentence was merely delayed.

I'm gonna get this thread pulled, and/or myself booted from FreeRepublic, but if that were my grandson, the killer wouldn't be in jail for 15 years - he'd be dead.
