hired by the Clinton White House to help with e-mail retrieval

Yeh, sure. Like that's what his job really was.
Why in the heck would he be hired by Clinton/Gore TO FIND THEM ? Gimmie a break!

After watching Bush now since 20 January, I have to conclude Bush is unnaturally frightened of the Clintons. He is scared out of his wits about something or several things.

I hope Ashcroft will let the information out. Maybe then the American people will realize the depths of Clinton Corruption! Somehow, I doubt it though. Joe six pack is one stupid S.O.B.!!

My advice to Mr Ashcroft is the same that a certain liberal talking head suggested to the dems, "shoot to kill".

"Now the question is will the Department of Justice under Ashcroft divulge what they find?

Although he certainly should ... the answer is "NO"!

Since this is evidence in a pre-existing legal matter - I'd think that anything pertinent to that case would be excluded from the Executive Order.

If not, there will surely be a storm of media releases over the failure to provide under the then governing regulations.

Also have to comment on the rise in Bush-bashing on FR.
You guys are so upset that clinton is no longer around - is it because:
(a)You're working on Gore or Hill for the next time around, or
(b)You just got into the habit of trashing in general?

Fact of the matter is that governments lie, clinton did it a whole lot but all governments lie. Once a lie has been told and maintained NO following administration wants to let it out because of:
(a)The damage it would do to public trust in all administrations, and
(b)the liklihood that subsequent policy has been built, at least in part, on top of the falsehood
- do you actually think we will ever admit that all that genocide against albanian muslims was a sham?
- do you expect someone to rise in congress tomorrow and declare Mugabe to be a monster worthy of another massive military operation?

I pray that finally Ashcroft or someone looks into this and goes after those scum clintons. This could keep Hildabeast out of the White House, which would be a good incentive for Ashcroft!

If Bush does nothing but cover up the Clintons crimes then he will not be re-elected in 2004 and might even be impeached. Choice is his.

Despite the story, is there any indication from Ashcroft that he even gives a damn? (Ergo, the problem)

From the article: 'Nearly half the 189 tapes, 71, were blank."

The eighteen minute gap on a key Watergate tape was found by technical analysis to be the result of dozens of individual erasure cycles.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the same thing has happened to these tapes.

Despite the erasure on the Watergate tape, there was eventually a tape which contained Nixon being informed that there was a connection between the White House and the Watergate burglary and Nixon is heard to state that a million dollars could be raised to help those responsible. Nixon was finally forced to resign.

The number of emails is so enormous that I expect that there will be plenty of smoking guns found among them. Gore's statements regarding the fund raising at the Buhddist monastery were in conflict with appointment notations which later came to light.

As for Ashcroft making a decision regarding the emails, he will have little to say regarding emails which were previously subpeonaed and withheld. I believe that the Judicial Watch subpeonas would have to be challenged directly in order to withhold relevant emails.

Judge Lamberth has allowed plenty of lattitude to those who are supposed to turn over these emails. Despite the Judge's willingness to let the process run its course, he has supported the discovery process so far and I would be surprised if he doesn't continue to support it.

The end-game for this particular line of enquiry is nearing. Although some of us won't get everything that we might imagine out of this process, the vigor with which Clinton's people withheld these emails indicates to me that there was much to hide.

I also expect that there will be much finger-pointing at the late Charles Ruff. That is the way it works, isn't it?

No quandary here, IMHO...release the evidence, AG Ashcroft, and the Sheeple'll point out exactly where the crimes were committed since you and the DoJ apparently can't figger it out!!

SHEEEESH...MUD

Yes, I agree this is a quandry - especially because the dems are looking for ANYTHING to get back on the front page of the paper. Even this would get them front page status - and while it would not be very good news (at least I'm hoping it wouldn't), it would put the dems to advantage during an election cycle.

So, the quandry is - should they expose what they have found out and risk having the dems control the front page (as well as TV time) during an election period, or do they take the heat (from their own party) and keep it hidden until after the election is over. Of course, releasing it could possibly be even better for the repubs - it could even make it a landslide for repubs everywhere. I think this decision will be a very difficult one.

I would just like to see the dems finally get their due when the real evidence against their corrupted party is finally revealed.
