Can you imagine the fireworks come Monday at Yale?

Will the Clinton supporting feminists take this kneeling down?

Christina Hoff Sommers is the lady who liberal Professor Jade Wade told to "Shut the f-ck up, bitch" at a government conference. Wonder if Fordham's President,Fr. Joseph O'Hara (212-636-6262), ever had Jay apologize for his "inapproriate" remarks.

One of my Judaic studies classes was cross listed with the Women Studies program in my school (SUNY Albany). The class was basically 70% lesbian.

Correction, that's Fr. O'Hare, not O'Hara.

I saw David Horowitz at the University of Delaware take on the "Hate America Left" and it was priceless.

This one should be oh so good. A real woman telling the "womyn" that where they're wrong. At Yale no less!!!

Silencing Sommers
Clinton holdovers have their way with HHS

Stanley Kurtz

Imagine that a feminist heroine like Carol Gilligan or Catherine MacKinnon had been silenced by federal officials at a government-sponsored conference, simply for airing her feminist views. Then imagine MacKinnon or Gilligan being put upon by a group of paid government consultants and told by a man to "shut the f*ck up, bitch" while the rest of the crowd laughed at her derisively. Now imagine our feminist heroine, having been publicly silenced and insulted, finally leaving the conference, while the federal officials running the show did nothing to challenge or chastise the man who had hurled the insult.

Of course, none of this happened to Catherine MacKinnon or Carol Gilligan. Just imagine the media firestorm if it did. But this did happen to the famous critic of feminism, Christina Hoff Sommers, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. Sommers was delivering an invited speech at a conference on "Boy Talk" (a program sponsored by the Center for Substance Abuse and Prevention (CSAP) of the Department of Health and Human Services) when CSAP official Linda Bass summarily interrupted, and commanded Sommers to end her talk. Minutes later, as Sommers was forced by a hostile crowd to defend her claim that scientific studies ought to be used to help evaluate the effectiveness of government drug-prevention programs, Professor Jay Wade, of Fordham University's Department of Psychology — an expert on "listening skills" — ordered Sommers to "shut the f*ck up, bitch," to the laughter of the others in attendance. Having been muzzled by Bass and put upon by the crowd in a manner well outside the bounds of civilized discourse (and with not a move made by those running the conference to chastise Professor Wade) Sommers had little choice but to leave — effectively ejected from a government conference, simply for airing her views.

I called Professor Jay Wade for a comment on his insulting remarks to Sommers at the conference. It turns out that Wade had himself gone back to HHS and asked them to tell him, using the tape, exactly what he had said to Sommers at the conference. So Wade's remarks to me reflected the official transcript, which does not include the word "bitch." Wade said he remembers saying "Shut the f*ck up," to Sommers, but was unsure about whether he said "bitch." "I could have said 'bitch.' I probably thought it," Wade told me. Sommers says that Wade did in fact say "bitch," and careful listening to the tape reveals that the word was uttered, although almost drowned out by the derisive laughter of the crowd.

In college I studied engineering. While I was working hard to understand thermodynamics, statics, calculus, and physics--the "Womyn's Studies" students were in the hallway on their backs, legs spread, knees up, chanting, and practicing "giving birth" to Iris.

They all got A's.

Ladies and Gentlemen, why do we spend our life savings sending our children to universities in America where our beloved children are taught hogwash by these communists?

Dear Doctor Raoul:

How, in your esteemed opinion, can we help this brave woman?

Sommers earned her B.A. at New York University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1971. She received her Ph.D. in Philosophy at Brandeis University in 1979.

This should be interesting. Wonder if she has to answer questions with half her brain tied behind her. I am assuming that she is arguing the positive. As I recall Dr. Sowell also has a problem with womyns studies as well as "other" studies.

Expect an after action report and ping.

First time posting....

I really enjoyed reading "Who Stole Feminism" (I even have a copy signed by Dr Sommers herself!), but I was disappointed by "The War Against Boys." Dr Sommers exhibits a certain glee in slashing the "pseudo-science" of some feminist claims (that women's shelters report a 40% rise in crisis calls on Super Bowl weekend, for instance)but by the end of "The War Against Boys," the text has shifted into a policy paper from AEI that doesn't target "The War" anymore. It just didn't fit with what I thought the thesis of the book was.

I would bet the mortgage that Dr Sommers will more than hold her own in the debate. Not sure if the crowd would agree with me though. New Haven audiences can be tough.

For some really "it would be funny if it weren't so sad" reporting on "women's studies" check out "Professing Feminism" by Daphne Patai and Noretta Koertge.

Doctor, Doctor...thanks for giving us the news. This should get a great speech at Yale. I haven't read "The War Against Boys...." but I have a fairly good idea of what's in that book just from observing the radical feminists and the change in young men over the last 20 years. If men would just show genuine strength and stand up to feminists, then the feminists would respect us much more.

This sounds as exciting as when, in 1989, a doctor from Florida, attending his class reunion at Yale, burned "Nelson Mandela City." NM City was a mock shantytown constructed of scrap lumber and boxes by radical leftist student groups on the square at Yale's Woolsley Hall where the men of Yale who have fallen in battle in service to our country are honored. It was a big pile of trash desecrating the memorial, where occasionally, leftists would sleep in overnite to show ther "solidarity" with the African National Congress. There was usually some volunteer hanging around to "guard" the shantytown. However, one particular morning, whoever was supposed to be on "guard duty" had partied too much the night before, or something, and was not at his or her post. While out for his morning jog, the good doctor set fire to the shantytown and it burned to the ground. He was spotted by another early morning jogger who followed him and apparently became a witness for the prosecution after the doctor was charged with arson. Oh the self-rightious hue and cry by campus leftists after that incident!

Taking the fight into the belly of the beast.

There are entire social institutions built around the feminist lie. They will not quietly fold their tents and go away. But they have made themselves increasingly irrelevant, even as they become more and more strident in a vain attempt to remain relevant. Having squandered their moral momentum on the likes of Bill Clinton and "potty parity," they are spent, obsolete, hollow relics.

Now is the time to attack.
