I want at least Carl Limbacher to get in his face. Maybe Joe Farah. Maybe some of the Republicans such as David Dreier. For a commentator on CNN to allege that the president of the United States is on the take cannot just be ignored.

Bush is on the take with Saudia Arabia. So that is why he is pushing for domestic oil drilling...Makes perfect sense to me if I was a liberal....

Bill Press and CNN, long ago reached the point of being so absurd - they lost the THINKING market, and now preach to the underclass of mentality and to those that depend on the demorat BIG GOVERNMENT cradle to grave free ride on taxpayers backs.

Bill Press and most talking heads on CNN, perform the unique act of masturbating by running their mouthes and complaining against self sufficient citizens.

Ignore them....they WILL go away....in a free market.

O'Reilly was performing every ritual of male dominance short of mock mounting the slob.

And this is supposed to make Press look bad?!

This is just more evidence of the liberals' foaming at the mouth because those high approval ratings refuse to budge. The longer those ratings stay up there, the more unraveled the liberals become. Let's just sit back, pop open a cold one and watch 'em self-destruct.

When ever Bill the-soul-of-the-Leftist Press or any other knee-jerk Republican hater is heard on my radio the automatic BS filter I had installed kicks in and changes the station. There's very little chance that it stays on KFI for very long!

I just happened to be going through the dial on my way to dinner when I heard his voice. I thought I'd listen for a minute.

Since Bill Handle kicked me off the air and told me not to call again, I hardly ever listen to KFI except for a little Rush and the occasional Hour of bin Laden from John and Ken.

nope, gwb didn't shift anything, neither he nor the government buys crude oil (with the rare exception of additions to the strategic petroleum reserve), our crude is all bought by private companies (either directly by refiners or by brokers to be resold to refiners)

and, in any case, merely shifting purchases from one seller to another has no effect on the price because oil is fungible and its price is set on a world-wide market

only a reduction in total world demand or an increase in total world supply, or some combination of the two can bring about a price decline

Economically speaking, I agree with you - over time, but something happened to change the dynamics about the time that Putin became our best friend after 9/11. Russia dramatically increased shipments as if they had merely turned on a switch, and all of a sudden Iraqi shipments declined to a small fraction of their prior months shipments. Given a glut and a competitive price, the buyer chooses where to buy. We obviously chose Russia thereby putting a huge crimp in OPEC cash flow. Certainly the U.S. doesn't buy oil per se, with the exception of replacing the reserves, but a "suggestion" of where to buy by the administration could have have a big impact.

there's no such thing as "opec cash flow", only iraqi cash flow, saudi cash flow, kuwaiti cash flow, etc., etc.

i don't doubt for a minute that we have jawboned the russians about cooperating with opec, which could have an effect on prices in the FUTURE, but any recent supplier switching had no effect on recent prices, although we can certainly applaud any crimp that gets put into saddam's revenue stream

but, regardless of anything we may have asked, the russians have been increasing production for some time and don't need their arms twisted, their crude production increased from about 6.5 mbpd in 2000 to about 7 mbpd in 2001 and will probably hit 7.5 mbpd in 2002, about 60% being exported

further, i've seen no evidence that the russians "dramatically increased shipments as if they had merely turned on a switch", nor have i heard any such rumor, and i trade this stuff

even if true, it wasn't responsible for crude moving from 30 bucks to 20 bucks, that happened in ten days from 9/17 to 9/26 and was the result of the market waking up to the fact that world oil demand is going to stink for a long time, not because anybody turned on a spigot

your theory about russian/iraqi oil may sound plausible, but it just doesn't hold water

This just proves how damn dumb Bill Press really is.

Ha - that was established a long time ago: "And what about NORA TURLOCK? Has anyone heard from HER?" He was, of course, referring to NOTRA TRULOCK, the MAN who was in charge of security at Los Alamos National Labs during the Wen Ho Lee incident?

I sent CNN a scathing e-mail on that gaffe, and merely received their usual generic reply, thanking me for being a viewer, blah, blah, blah :-(
