Follow-up items:
1. Gay will be charged with a crime for endangering a child for having loaded guns where he could get access to them.
2. BATF agents will raid the house looking for illegal weaponss and sieze the gun collection.
Just a prediction.

Let's find out more about how the criminal found out about guns in the house.
Did he have inside information?
Did he have access to police firearms databases?
I think this avenue, which exposed the family to the risk of a break-in, needs to be explorered more. This is life and death in Indiana, gun records being kept by "law enforcement" may have been the source here.

Great article, BUT... I'm thinking Jesse Jackson will come sniffing around trying to defend the late Mr. Murry. There will be gun nut, leftist, media pressure to hold someone accountable for allowing an 11 year old to have access to weapons. The story will go, "We are pleased that the lad was able to help his grandmother but she was really in no phsical danger. Mr. Murry, while a bad character, has never been know to be violent and was simply trying to remove dangerous, unlicensed weapons from his neighborhood. The little child misunderstood what was happening and grabbed one of the very weapons that concerned Mr. Murry."
"The much greater problem here, is that the little child who grabs a weapon because he believes a relative is in danger could have grabbed the same weapon to right some wrong at school. This a very disturbing prospect and this situation simply reinforces our believe that all firearms must be registered at City Hall."
Cold beer says some leftie media slime will write it up the same way!

He told me, Take me to where the guns are.And the boy dutifully showed him the gun.
And the bullets. Up close and personal.

Right you are C. Dave.
I won't be surprised to hear about this boy in a future ATF raid on these "gun hoarders" where the kid is responsible for killing himself and his mom because he was playing with matches while the house was surrounded....

Never threaten a grandma in front of her grandson Bump!

He told me, Take me to where the guns are. BS. Everyone knows criminals get their guns via the "gun show loophole".

"An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject."That's a good one! Is that your quote or someone else's? If someone else's, whose? I'd like to add it to my "signature" list for e-mails.

This is one article you'll never see in the New York Times or U.S.A. Today (Gannett Press). It doesn't conform with their socialist thinking - hence it never occurred.
Its a good thing they live in a civlized state like Indiana. In New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts or Maryland, they would have punished the kid and his grnadmother for killing the assailant.

"The boy shot one round and hit Murry, 27, in the chest, even though the man was shielding himself with Gay."Now THAT is GUN CONTROL!!!

Great post, Chuk.
This is exactly the sort of news item we need to offset the lies of the 'Brady Bunch.'

Doesn't bother me one bit. The young man had no choice of his parents. In this instance he seems to have demostrated common sense and solid judgement.
As well as excellent target acquisition and shot placement.

Let's find out more about how the criminal found out about guns in the house. The article discusses this. The formerly-alive fellow was a "friend" of the boy's biological mother, had been in the house before, and knew of the collection.
I guess he found out the hard way that there was a bullet collection to go along with it.

You said: "The liberal think will be--- the only reason the knife wielder was there in the first place was to get the guns. if guns were not allowed, then human life would have been saved."
Its already there - right in the article! Unfortunately the reporter also included names and the street address of this family - probably making them future targets. Hope the kid keeps up his range practice!
Ironically, it was guns that Murry may have come for in the first place.
Murry demanded all the weapons in the house. Gay's late husband was a weapons collector and Murry knew of the collection, said St. Joseph County Prosecutor Chris Toth, who said this was a case of justifiable homicide.
