If the detainees are weak from malnutrition, then we won't have to worry about escape attempts!

good let the innocent killing terrorists die. This will save us big court costs. This is maddening as they are taking advantage of OUR system of freedoms, including the press to manipulate.

Tell them to hunger on. That can either gracefully die, or show the world their hypocrisy and lies again by ending the lie of the hunger strike (like the lie of their false interpretation of Islam)

Good. I hope they all starve themselves to death. Normal people will be better without them around.

If the camp commander were smart, he would never have allowed ANY privileges to prisoners. He would NEVER allow a reporter, Red Cross rep, or anyone else on his base. No call to prayer, no prayer mats, no turbans. If they want to hunger strike, let them. And when one of them exposes himself in an effort to embarrass a female guard, she should be under orders to POINT AND LAUGH! Instead, we hurt our selves by trying to placate the media. Remember, these are the bastards that brought us 9-11...

Medical personnel have been monitoring the detainees and are prepared to feed them intravenously if needed, Cox said.

Exactly. But the point is that if one of these detaines dies from the hunger strike, our PRESS would be all over it and we would look like the Great Satan for letting this happen, don't cha know.

I say, pull the press out of there, and give these guys their "right to strike" and if they die, they die. Can't shove food down their mouths.

Good the less they eat means the less it costs us to keep them alive.

I hope they are willing to take it where Al Sharpton wouldn't, all the way to allah.

This Camp commander should be relieved of his command immediately.
He doesn't know what he is doing!
Big mistake giving in to the 'detainees' demands........that is just the beginning, now that they see how far they can go!

These guys are bitching because one of them had his turban taken away. Now these guys have already threatened their guards, and their buddies back in Afghanistan somehow got weapons in their stockade and killed their guards, so naturally the guards at Gitmo are going to be extra-cautious. A turban is, of course, a fairly substantial hiding place for a weapon. If the Moslem wants headgear there are always those lacy knitted caps that some other Moslems wear.

The US military spent a fortune - of our taxpayer dollars - providing these guys with halal (kosher) food ... if they reject it, then they can eat Spam just like the soldiers who are guarding them. Or they can jump the fences and get into Cuba, and we can see how attentive the Communists are to their religious sensitivities.

Posted on the Haiku thread this morning:

Cuba is prison
Turbans not allowed in here
Hunger strikes happen

They give us orders
We pretend to not hear them
We mock their crew cuts

Our prayers are not heard
We now eat Mohammed's shorts
These soldiers are real.

Sounds to me like they are getting over the initial shock of capture and starting to organize. The camp needs to be broken apart and the prisoners allowed no communication - otherwise, it will get very dangerous.

Thursday night, Brig. Gen. Mike Lehnert, the Marine general running the detention mission, used the camp loudspeaker to tell inmates they would be allowed to wear turbans. Cox said, "We will reserve the right to inspect [turbans] at any time."

Wrong General, who is running this institution? You or the detainees? This is the first step in what will be veiwed as a series of small mistakes that ends in a tradgedy.

Jailers do not provide, or allow those in their custody a means to hide, or conceal, weapons or other objects that may jeopardize the security of the institution.

Amnesty spokesman Alistair Hodgett said in Washington.

Good to see AI so concerned with the political prisoners on the other side of the Guantanamo fence.
