I am not one who goes out to see new movies when they are released.
Same here, but I did the impetuous thing and got to see it at the 3:30PM showing
in West Los Angeles.
Take a few Kleenex. There were more than a couple of older fellows with reddened
eyes after the show was over.
Forget "Platoon". This is THE Vietnam Era film, respectful, truthful,
emotional without being over-the-top with sentimentality, and honest
about the crappy treatment of vets.
And didn't demonize the enemy...but at the same time didn't slip into moral relativism.

and honest about the crappy treatment of vets. How true. One of the saddest scenes in the movie was the soldier being wheeled through the airport...and being ignored.
