I think Linda Tripp a) spread some unfounded rumors about Bush I having an affair b) is not a team player and c) is also radioactive because hiring her would arouse and anger the democrats d) and I think there is no upside in that hiring her would not motivate republicans.

So it boils down to there is no political upside, there is a political downside, I'm not sure she has great talent or skill, I'm not sure why she can not catch on in the private sector either.

If my memory serves me right ( and it doesn't all the time) I think that Donna Brazille during the 98 election when she worked for Dukakis and he was running against Bush Sr.. At that time Dukakis fired her for spreading the rumor than Al Gore hired her for his campaign in 2000.
