NAMBLA's dream shrink. Herein lies the seed of the lie that will be watered for a few more years and blossom into a new protected class of people who will parade in the streets - taking pride in their shame. Living in the belly of the beast -- Sin Freaksicko, Calipornia -- I concur. I still remember when it was weird to see men dressed in drag when walking down streets outside seamier gay areas. Now, the city will pay for sex-change operations for its employees.
I have said it before, and will say it again -- societal change doesn't come in quantum leaps; it comes in tiny baby steps. After a while, when you turn around, you can't believe how far you have strayed from where you were.

No, I'll put up no stats here, except my own say so as a "Joe". And that will have to be good enough.

That's kind of what I thought.
The story of what happened to that poor little girl is bad enough wihtout all the pedaphilia-conspiracy nonesense. Harming children has not nor will ever be accepted, and I'm surprised that is what you read into the psychiatrist's comments. Rhetoric and propaganda have no place in rational discussion. I'm just trying to keep things a little intellectually honest.

Westerfield is the number one suspect, and it looks like they have the goods on him. I am also going with the current evidence. However, I am hoping that we will get some more information that will hopefully put an end to the wild speculation we are seeing on these threads.

Look at it this way. If this theory--that children are a sexual "choice," then the only suitable punishments for them if caught is life without parole, or death. In fact, most child molesters either resist treatment, or few of the treatments are effective. This could backfire on those who want it to be a sanctioned "lifestyle."

Look at the crimes convicted of and see if they match up to what you consider a chester to be.
That was my point. It's not about what I consider pedaphiles to be like, but what the case studies show.
Go ahead and send me a freepmail about what you have. I'd be interested to see it.

What proclivities a child may entertain, or a convicted pervert share as a childhood memory with psychiatrists, is of no matter, for as one becomes an adult one learns self-control and to temper whatever base impulses one may have. Oft tempered, oft controlled, those impulses diminish and are no more, or they are recast in positive directions.
A fondness for younger children in a child is expressed in many ways, verbal, physical, sexual, etc. It is for the adults of that generation to teach the self-control and to redirect the undesired actions into socially desirable ones, as possible.
The cast of this article and the Dietz as quoted would leave one unnecessarily alarmed that the fondness for younger children which is a natural and normal occurance in a significant subpopulation of children is a dangerous indicator of adult pedophilia. It is, as I read it, an immoral article, as it suggests that as adults that subpopulation is not beyond, (even well-beyond) moral control of their adult actions.

And as for experts, sir, they are found at any price level, taking any stance or giving any opinion you might desire, and so, as well, in front of Judges when sworn under oath.
Never let "expertism" block you from learning a thing yourself or replacing your common sense.

That is a very good article, and raises a lot of good points. Where do we draw the line for "sexual preferences?"
It used to be as described in the Bible: one man, one wife. I've seen Freepers who approve of the "swinger" lifestyle alleged to be practiced by the van Dams--and we've all read articles from radio stations and foreign news sources stating that the orgies in fact included homosexual activities. Do we draw the line there? Then how long before, as some here worry, little children will be included as "valid" sexual preferences?
I know some will say it's no one's business. But a little girl died last month because of someone's "sexual preferences." How much of a part was played by the parents' alleged lifestyle, we don't know, and might not know for some time. Maybe none at all. But it does beg the question: where do we, as a society, draw the line?

I hope you're not going to work to get this thread pulled like the last ones.

Don't misunderstand me, I still think the parents are hiding something. If they are "culpable" or covering their own butts, then they should be dealt with accordingly. That's all.

They are. The FBI runs a program called Innocent Image to help catch them. Unfortunately, the program will be criticized by many freepers because it's run by the FBI. Local authorities run their own versions of stings, I've assisted with a couple local investigations.

Tell me, is it now a federal crime to read Nabokov's "Lolita"?

Here comes trouble...again. Just when this thread was becoming interesting too. It was refreshing to hear all the different opinions.
"Stalking" threads is not very polite...

This is a valid thread. There is no reason to call in all your troops, so you can ask for the moderator to pull this one like the last ones. Enough already.
To: spectre
There are forums that allow you to create private threads, but Free Republic isn't one of them. I thought everyone knew that. Sorry to burst in on your party.
To: golitely, admin moderator
AS THE MODERATOR ALREADY KNOWS, I did NOT ask for your threads to be pulled. I'm not into childish games like that. (LOL~ !)
