Actually, there already was a case like that. A man (who was 40 or so but still lived with his mother!) was beaten up by some guys because they thought he was a pedophile, and I think they've been charged with a hate crime. If we're not allowed to hate pedophiles, who can we hate?

That's the last I heard, too. Someone--wish I could recall who--said they heard he might have molested a "family member" and of course we wondered if it might have been his daughter. But so far, nothing official in that line of investigation yet. But most of these people will leave a trail of some sort--no jail terms, maybe, but other kinds of things.

Paul, you answered your own question. The women in question seduced teenage boys, not prepubescent children. Pedophilia the real deal is the unnatural attraction to prepubescent children, and those body types.

It may be illegal to seduce a 14 year girl (and it should be illegal) but it's entirely possible to be turned on by her fully developed woman's body, and just be a shameless predator, but not be a pedophile.

So, are you saying it's ok to punish someone based on what you think they are? Or should you wait until the evidence is in? Should punishment be meted out in an arbitrary way by people on the street? Or should it be done in an official capacity?

Should we just establish lynch mobs and posse's to track down people we suspect of being criminals and allow those groups to punish them? Doesn't sound like a society I want to live in. Sounds more like anarchy to me.

Actually, I think the point is to be naturally suspicious of single, loner type guys who are involved in these activites. Most Little League coaches, Boy Scout leaders, etc. are dads who have an interest in being there......they have kids in the league or in the troupe.

My assertion can stand on the basis of plain old common sense. Not all generalization must come from a published source subject to academic rebuttal. These perverts commit the most heinous crime imaginable, and in so doing have a clear motive to permanently silence their victims. I agree about charging them with a hate crime. They should just be charged with a crime - assault, or attempted murder, or whatever was appropriate. I'm not in favor of hate crime legislation - a crime is a crime.
