Coming from a Democrat family, I was a "Cold War Liberal" back in the 60's supporting JFK and Martin Luther King but strongly anti-communist. But, of course, if Kennedy was around now saying the same stuff they'd call him a right-wing extremist like I have been called (and worse) since about 1970. And, of course, King's version or equality has been out of style since about '65 and even King himself started going the PC - "affirmative" action route towards the end.

How did you reconcile anti-communism and MLK's now known affections for collectivism back then? I'm not flaming...just curious.
