Used to have a dog years ago, first sound of thunder it would start panting and make a beeline for the basement. A little valium during those times might have calmed it, but I'm not sure if that would have been the way to go. Dogs can get addicted to drugs even faster than humans.

The animals are responding to the humans' reaction to the noise. The animals are being conditioned by the neurotic owners. I have horses that run to the sound of gunfire and to my dogs gunfire signals dinnertime or fun.
