Sanchez blanketed the tv with ads. Not only that, but his message was one of conservatism. My husband (who is from Brownsville) thought that Sanchez was a Republican.

I don't like the trend on this thread that just because you are Hispanic, that means you will vote for Sanchez. My husband's family came to the States about the same time that my family did (in the early 1900's). They are as conservative as you can get. As a matter of fact, my cousin-in-law is a judge down there and running for re-election as a Republican. The family I married into is filled with very successful doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc.......Not everyone who is Hispanic is trying to live off the dole.

The rest of the country doesn't seem to understand that being Hispanic in Texas is like being Italian in New York or Polish in Chicago.

He must have at least two sets of ads then ---the ads here made him look like an extreme socialist. He was promising free heath care and college to all ---saying that "no one is second class" and everyone is entitled to everything. He's also promised to make Spanish as important as English. He's extremely pro-Affirmative Action (not for whites even if they're a minority though).

"don't like the trend on this thread..."

I don't like it either.

Sanchez supported GW, something I haven't seen mentioned here at all. He ran a good campaign. I just can't stand the policy of racial profiling and demonization of people.

I am not so jaded or cynical that I can't believe that we can't assess a person for their ideas and character and make an informed decision no matter their heritage or party. Sheesh!

Thank you, madame.

Everyone in Texas KNOWS you speak the truth.

Now do the WORLD a real favor-recruit some of the biggest risk-takers amoung your fine family to do the unthinkable-RUN for office!!

Such as Orlando Sanchez ( if he had only won the Houston mayoral race ) would own, quite righteously the entire STATE & as Texas goes, so may the entire nation & thus the entire world would be a much larger step toward freedom & liberty. Oh, for a conservative of Mexican descent ( with name, culture & creditionals ) to advance politically & set this state & nation right! They number in the many millions, but who would take the abuse, the pain & likely the pay cut, to mount such a campaign? I would give BLOOD for that to happen!
