Amnesty: sumpins up here. Even Ron Paul voted for it. W's got a card up his sleeve here. It can't be just about politics as usual if Ron Paul signed on. I think it's a sting operation. I hope.

Less government. That sounds vaguely familiar. Now where have I heard that? Was that an old campaign slogan of Herbert Hoover's? It's catchy. Impossible but catchy,

The very first thing they need to do is a data search of every INS and Outsource computer for names that are on the skip list as well as the suspect terrorist list. Those names should be instantly pulled.

This needs to be done before even one more document is mailed out.

This is a joke, Bush and the fedgov could care less.

I agree. The only thing they care about is that this screw up brings to the light of day just how inadequate their immigration policies are.

If you listened to the President's Press Conference today you will know that this is not a blanket amnesty bill. We do not have the complete details of the bill yet.

Think about this. The only government bureaucracy that seems to do a decent job is Social Security. They get the checks out on time to wherever you want them to go. At least my local office is polite, helpful and friendly. Why? Senior citizens vote and have probably voted all their lives. Before 9/11 I never paid the slightest bit of attention to the INS - well, I did after the Elian fiasco. There are too many federal bureaucracies that operate like the INS and too many Americans don't realize it. INS, DMV, EPA, IRS, DEP, etc., etc. Solution - run them like "for profit" organizations. Get rid of the dead wood, hold employees responsible for job performance and fire them if they don't perform.

Why do you say "they will not"? Remember the Pennslyvania flight where Americans died fighting the terrorists? Remember the shoe bomber who wound up with a battered face?

Why?

I believe that pent up emotions and frustrations for a variety of reasons are just waiting for a reason to manifest themselves in violence. The loss of one's comfort level of national identity and arrogant intrusion into our collective house can be sufficient reason to sway the "fence sitters" in joining the hot bloods. Once it starts it will be self perpetuating open season for and on a multitude of real or perceived social ills. Violence has a tendency to feed on itself.

Why do you say "they will not"?

I'm in agreement with you. You must have misunderstood my comment. I was saying that they will not wait for government action. In essence I was saying the American people will act on their own if need be as per your examples

Can't argue with that. A society can go only so long under illogical and inhumane PC opression .... and then POW, to the moon Alice!
