The hotel and restaurant industries had been pushing hard for the bill, arguing they would be short staffed if thousands of their Mexican employees were forced to return home to apply for visas.

One of the problems that make this issue so controversial, why in the hell are the hotel and restaurant industries being permitted to hire these people in the first place? Last time I checked, it was against the law to hire undocumented workers. Laws that are not enforced are a waste of the paper they are written on.

This is typical of a government that has grown beyond it's capability to be administratively effective. And this is all at the expense of the working tax payers who pay these porkers to literally screw us. Now look at the solution they are proposing to solve the problem that they created in the first place.

That's right, it's against our laws, yet our President and our Congress conveniently forget this.

Exactly what I was thinking. Let these restaurant owners that have been illegally hiring illegal immigrants have to compete with the restaurant owners that are hiring legal employees.
