[history]
A U.S. intelligence report on the case of Navy Lt. Cmdr. Michael Scott Speicher provides the most complete explanation by the U.S. government on why the pilot probably was captured alive by Iraqis after ejecting from his F-18 in 1991.

It is long past time for this hero to be home, I urge you to begin writing/faxing/emailing your congressmen/senators, to begin to put the heat on Iraq. We freepers can make a difference, as evidenced in the past, and there can be no better cause than this to again, apply pressure.

This is so awful. I can't imagine what he's been subjected to all these years. I hope they can bring him home soon.

This poor man- and his family must be beside themselves at this point. Did the US even bother to look for him? I heard someone told their commanders that they had seen a fireball go down and so they just assumed he was dead. But now they think the fireball was the plane he was firing upon. The poor man.

I know. I've been wondering if he had a wife or kids. I haven't seen any mention of it. Can you imagine if she thought he was dead and remarried? It just boggles the mind. When he does come back, can you imagine how difficult life will be for him? I wonder if a person can ever heal from that kind of experience?

The important thing to remember is that the iraqis are people just like us. Im sure they just got a little antsy when the captured Cmdr. Speicher and werent sure how to go about notifying the proper authorities of his status. As time passed, well, things only got more and more awkward for Sadam. Im sure hes just looking for an easy way out now.
Same is true with Navy Seal Neil Roberts, who must have been accidentally executed shot by the al queda forces when captured. Im sure they wouldnt have purposely hurt him, after the first class treatment the other members of their pack are receiving at camp X-ray. Probably in all the confusion over if hed need any special meals for Lent, some signals got crossed is all.
Yes, the peaceful muslims that we wage this disagreement, nay, misunderstanding with, are wonderful humans just like us. It is not, as some say a miracle that they walk upright, no, they are peace loving people who just need more aid in order to love us back.
"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and his messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be to be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet and genitals cut off, or to be expelled out of the land. Such will be their humiliation in the world, and in the next world they will face an awful horror." (Koran, 5:33-34)

Yes, he had a wife and kids. He was listed as KIA and she remarried a couple years ago.
If we really think he is in there then give the Iraqi's an ultimatum. Turn him over or we drop every bridge, bomb every power plant, mine their access to the Persian Gulf, and take them back to the stone age. The thought of Scott being held for eleven years makes it personal. I hope God shows some mercy to the Iraqi people, because the Navy sure won't.

Oh my gosh, that is so awful. I can't imagine what must be going through everyone's minds; his, hers, the new husband, the kids, I can't even think about it. That must be hell in so many ways.

I've heard about this and about the Vietnam vets who never returned home. I remember reading about John LeBoutillier being involved with a group dedicated to bringing them home. Did he write the book? It's all just too horrifying to consider.

"I hope they can bring him home soon."
At the risk of being labeled a pessamist, I believe that Speicher will only be coming home as a KIA (read 'murdered' by the Islamanazis), if at all. While these sightings are encouraging, I'm reminded of similar prisoner sighting in the past, Raoul Wallenberg, Korean and Vietnam POW's, and none of them were ever seen again to my knowledge. I just can't see Hussein hanging onto this guy for the last ten years. I hope I'm wrong.
The sad thing is that our own government may have sealed his fate by listing him as a KIA right off the bat.

Or more likely, the Pentagon knows he's dead, but is just using this issue to dredge up an excuse to start something.
