The scandal will spread and tourism will further decline.

That kind of assinine tack is exactly what it might take to get the attention of this, our, lazy government's attention.
Who, it might be said up to now?
Have quietly sat back to watch the Monaco "justice system" deal with this -- by granting Ted Maher a fair trial -- *instead* of the US interferring, beforehand?
Knowing our (sometimes gutless) government?
That'd be the *political thing they'd elect to do first in an honest effort to prevent any hint they were meddling.
Just a guess, mind you; but, might be true, nonetheless.
Since let us never forget, Ted Maher's an American citizen no matter how one slices & dices the matter.
So, let Monaco just try pulling a boner like that; just try it, Monaco.
