RAMALLAH, West Bank -- Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat condemned Thursday's suicide bombing in Jerusalem, promising to "put an end to such attacks" and work toward a cease-fire after 18 months of violence with Israel.

"We strongly condemn this military operation that took place in west Jerusalem today, especially since it was against innocent Israeli civilians," said a downcast Arafat, reading a statement at his desk beside a Palestinian flag. "We will take the appropriate and immediate measures to put an end to such attacks."

"Military operation"? By a man they let out of jail last week?

Arafat...yada, yada, yada. He wants international peace keepers. Why? So his suicide bombers can blow them up too? Time to bring Zinni home, again.

Arafat is a crewl joke. The man has been a terrorist his whole life. The only organizations that don't realize this are the UN and the EU. Obviously that leaves out a lot of orgs in the middle-east, but they're brain dead.

He condemns it in English for us Western dupes, then goes to the victory celebration and praises it in Arabic.

Will we ever catch on?

This was in English for the stupid, fawning, dominant media. Does anyone believe that he will tell his Muslim bretheren that he wants them to stop terror? Yeah. Right.

This is what he said in English -- I wonder what he said in Arabic ?? He screamed for a Jihad a few weeks ago -- now he condems it ?? And since when is strapping a bomb full of spikes and nails and blowing yourself up in a crowd of women and teenagers out shopping a "military operation" ?? -- it's an act of cowardice and unfathonable cruelty -- designed to do exactly what the word "terrorist" means

I have tried to listen to & see both sides of the picture in the Middle East, but these continued bombings have put me solidly on the side of Israel, and my heart aches for the families of the poor innocents who were maimed and killed -- yes, even for the Arabs who were killed by the other coward on the bus yesterday --

Arafat's statement fell short of the clear cease-fire call that the United States has demanded and which Israel has made a condition for lifting the travel ban on the Palestinian leader. That would enable him to attend next week's Arab summit in Beirut, Lebanon, at which Saudi Arabia is to table a regional peace plan.

This is the only reason why he is even opening up his ugly trap! His words don't make a difference to the Palestinians they ignore him because they know he is a coward and they go ahead and do what they want! He is sooo Full of Sh@#$T! His words are meaningless.

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat condemned Thursday's suicide bombing in Jerusalem, promising to "put an end to such attacks" and work toward a cease-fire after 18 months of violence with Israel.

Arafat's statement, just like every similar statement he's made on the subject is a calculated, bald-faced lie. He orders the attacks to achieve his goals of terrorzing Israeli society, killing Jews and starting a war that will bring him control over lots more than the "West Bank." After ordering the attacks, he makes a perfunctory condemnation aimed at the naive morons in the Western World. After that, he immediately begins planning for the next attack. Why do we continue to appease him, continue to believe that he ever tells the truth, continue to reward him by sending high-level negotiators and, finally, why do we continue to condemn Israel for taking very restrained actions to prevent attacks on its civilian population, while at the same time we are bombing the s--- out of Afghanistan? Don't get me wrong - I think that the US policy toward terrorism is correct, perhaps even a bit soft. I just don't understand the public hypocracy implied in condemning Israel for doing less than we are and dignifying Arafat by treating him like a stateman. Maybe the US should stop all operations in Afghanistan and offer to negotiate with Bin Laden or Mullah Omar?

Nitwits of the world press accept this plausible deniability of Arafat. I guarantee that part of his plan is to make peace talks from time to time while his confederates bomb, kill, wound and traumatize Israelis. And most of the victims are not IDF but Israel civilians.

Same pattern of Jihad and Jew killing would go on even if the Pallies were given the entire West Bank and Gaza tomorrow. Pallies are laughing today at the latest Israeli non response.

Never trust anything Arafat says in a news conference, in English, or to Westerners.

Sick, evil, old demented Arafat has been used by other Arab states, who don't WANT the Palestinians anywhere near their cities and borders, to harass Israel. He's been financed by them to foment a continuing crisis for the globe, and he's been a willing pawn. Now he nears the end of his usefulness, and no one has paid any attention to him for years. He's a puppet and has no power to make any decisions for the Palestinians, as evidenced by his refusal of the most generous offer ever made to any of those scum, under Clinton. The US is right not to talk with him, he's a nothing, a nobody.

Giving him publicly a position he does not hold privately, by having VP Cheney talk with him, serves nothing and no one.

Your analysis is 100% correct. Arafat and other PLO liars talk peace and demand Israel out of the "occupied territories" while other Pallies plan their next attack on Israeli civilians.

Then when Israel tries to clean up the terrorist rat's nests in places like Ramallah, the world condemns Israel and the mass media spin it against her!

Mr Sharon, Please Put Arafat Under Arrest for Good!

Don't let him out, ever, and if he does get to Beirut, then he must never see Israel again, nor its territories.

Bingo. Someone has the quote from Arafat to the Palestinians that says to ignore what he says unless it's in the form of writing directly to them.

Frankly I couldn't care less what Arafat says to the press in English. It never matches what he says in Arabic. By using his own milita to attack today he just gave a big finger to America in the eyes of Islamics everywhere. And the Middle East responded, with mass demonstrations supporting Oslama Bin Laudin. The latest round of politics by Bush was a complete Disaster for both Israel and the Coalition. We just lost Saudi Arabia, the core and root of Islam. Our moving our forces out means it is over folks. The rest of Islam is about to become on the surface what they have been all along. Radical Islam is not Radical, it IS Islam. World War III is a lot closer, thanks to Arafat and his puppet masters the Arab League. The more Bush pushes, the more he is finding out that his Arabic Allies all had their hands on the knife in the back, 911.

... promising to "put an end to such attacks" and work toward a cease-fire ...

To my mind, this phrasing means that until now he had not tried to put an end to such attack nor work toward a cease fire, even though he had been giving those goals some lipservice.
