It's the Islam, Stupid!
I am not saying it should be dignified by calling it a religion, but there can be no democracy, only devilocracy, in that part of the world till it is wiped out.

When I catch new posters here on FR, I honestly TRY to warn them not to come on here thinking they can "tell us something" or get away with posting nonsense. We deal in facts here; we LOOK for the facts; and we post them in our replies.
It's very disheartening for these people, I know, when we don't accept the specious lies from people with an agenda.
I tell you what -- this thread has been a REAL eye opener for me. I've been thinking about it ALL night.
Where ARE the moderate Muslims who deplore these kinds of actions?
How do you EVER reason with these people?

They aren't absolved of anything. They're going to Hell. And they should have to pay dearly in this lifetime too. Muslims, though, who kill infidels, according to their religion, aren't going to Hell, they get to go to Paradise. As Bert or Ernie would say: One of these things is not like the other.

Upon further review I guess i can see how you came up with that

This, together with late childhood/early adolecent circumcision, and people don't wonder why so many Arab males have borderline personality disorders (just called "cultural differences" by some)?

How do you EVER reason with these people? Arisotolean logic is a Western concept. The Islamic world is all about emotion, not about logic, analysis, and self-examination. Sort of like dealing with rabid leftists here, only moreso.
Force and inflicted pain is how you "reason" with such. Such is their level of understanding.

As Bert or Ernie would say: One of these things is not like the other. Exactly. Those who argue equivalence between misdeeds by Christians, versus actions by Muslims, are lying to us and themselves.

A Shiite Muslim woman holds a three-year old boy whose forehead was cut during a ceremony in Nabatiyeh on Sunday March 24, 2002.
Notice the apparent deception (or politically-correct inspired delicacy) of the caption writer at the news service. The woman is holding the bleeding boy with one hand, the bloody knife in the other, and the writer said, "...woman holds a three-year [sic] old boy whose forehead was cut ..." instead of "...woman holds a three-year-old after cutting his forehead...". Well, I guess she could be using the knife to staunch the wound...yeah, right.

Borderline?

Borderline?
Well, certain aspects seemed similar to what we have seen from some of these folks over the years. It would have to be combined with a type of religious mania that a. cultivates paranoid delusions about Jews and b. encourages violence against them:
Borderline Personality Disorder
Relationships with others are intense but stormy and unstable with marked shifts of feelings and difficulties in maintaining intimate, close connections. The person may manipulate others and often has difficulty with trusting others. There is also emotional instability with marked and frequent shifts to an empty lonely depression or to irritability and anxiety. There may be unpredictable and impulsive behavior which might include excessive spending, promiscuity, gambling, drug or alcohol abuse, shoplifting, overeating or physically self-damaging actions such as suicide gestures. The person may show inappropriate and intense anger or rage with temper tantrums, constant brooding and resentment, feelings of deprivation, and a loss of control or fear of loss of control over angry feelings. There are also identity disturbances with confusion and uncertainty about self-identity, sexuality, life goals and values, career choices, friendships. There is a deep-seated feeling that one is flawed, defective, damaged or bad in some way, with a tendency to go to extremes in thinking, feeling or behavior. Under extreme stress or in severe cases there can be brief psychotic episodes with loss of contact with reality or bizarre behavior or symptoms. Even in less severe instances, there is often significant disruption of relationships and work performance. The depression which accompanies this disorder can cause much suffering and can lead to serious suicide attempts.

My point/comment implied that I thought you should delete the "borderline" from your post #149 - these people clearly have personality disorders. From your definition, it appears that a "borderline personality disorder" is a type of personality disorder - not someone who may/may not (on the "borderline, if you will) have a personality disorder.
Thanks for increasing my understanding.

I have never grouped all Muslims together in one category.

To me, it is amazing to watch some of these ignorant comments on FR about Islam. I sit back and laugh.

Guys, not defending this tradition, but do you think graphic photos of a circumcition would be any more appealing?

ahh, it only took 23 replies before someone mentioned the forskin! when Jews or Christians do it, it's not "genital mutilation"...
While "tradition" certainly plays a role, I believe that male circumcision does have hygenic merit. Sort of like removing tonsils.
