Download and sign/circulate the petition from the linked site. Ward Connerly is in the final stages of his push to get the Racial Privacy Initiative (RPI) on the California ballot this Fall. He needs signers and particularly circulators to get 200,000 more signatures to qualify this measure. RPI is a project of the American Civil Rights Coalition (ACRC) and would amend the California Constitution to not allow state and local government to classify an individual by race, ethnicity, color or national origin with limited exceptions covering medical research, law enforcement, the state Department of Fair Employment and Housing and other situations determined to fulfill a compelling state interest by the governor and a 2/3-majority of the Legislature. Government forms with questions that serve to inquire, separate or sort individuals by race would have to be amended by 2005.
Not only is the initiative a good idea, it's presense on the ballot will bring out Republican and conservative voters, and will present governor Gray Davis with a dilemma during his reelection campaign: there is great support for the RPI among the public, but Davis would alienate his leftist base if he dares support it.
Please join me, California Freepers, and let's do everything possible to get this on the ballot. Download it today.
God bless Mr. Connerly.
Anyway, here is one more cheer for Ward and the RPI.
