Yes, they were. Yet Israel did nothing during this massacre, and Ariel Sharon had told the Christian militias that he would do nothing while they massacred the Palestinians. For this, Ariel Sharon narrowly escaped World Court punishment because of the fact that the World Court felt that a leader of a nation was not punishable for a crime...great excuse...with this logic, Hitler would have escaped punishment at Nuremburg too...but the judges at Nuremberg would not have been so lenient as the World Court judges.

Yeah...I read history books...but I read all views, not just one side of a story (SEE "O! Jeruselem") If you read enough books, you will find that the situation in Palestine/Israel is ambiguous. Now tell me, what are the books on the situation that you have read?

You're right...English is not my first language...that's why I have a B.A. degree in English from the University of Maryland. With the devaluation of college degrees in this country, is it any wonder that the U.S. has to recruit much of its skilled workforce from abroad?

Your idea is swell, except for the fact that nobody wants to take the Palestinians into their own country.

Actualy what does the opinion of the host countries have to do with it Israel ocupies a large area of the neeighboring arab states, moves the palistinians onto the occupied lands, and withdraws its troops back into Israel, leaving the Palestinians in the neighboring territory. Problem selved.

I have a B.A. degree in English from the University of Maryland.

That explains your irrational behavior and political leanings. As far as your education goes I would demand a refund. I gather you did not have the smarts to pursue a technical degree.

Frankly, I do not believe you have an English Degree. There is not a gossamer of evidence that you understood any of the posts from the nature of your emotional reactions. I do believe however you are the archetype of problem foreign aliens.

"A few days after entering Beruit, the Israeli army surrounded the Sabra and Shatilla camps with tanks. Anyone who attempted to escape was shot." (SEE "The Massacre of Sabra and Shatilla" website.) "The slaughter in the two contiguous camps at Sabr and Shatilla took place from 6:00 at night on September 16,1982 until 8:00 in the morning of September 18 in 1982, in an area under control of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The perpetrators were members of the Phalange militia, the Lebanese force that was armed by and closely allied with Israel since the onset of Lebanon's civil war in 1975. The victims during the 62-hpur rampage included infants, children, women (including pregnant women) and the elderly. some of whom were mutlated or disembowled before or after they were killed." (SEE "Indict and Arrest Ariel Sharon Now!" website)

The Red Cross claims 2,750 killed during the massacre.

Thomas Friedman, a New York Times reporter who arrived at the scence after the massacre was over, wrote: "Mostly I saw groups of young men in their twenties and thirties who had been lined up against walls, tied by their hands and feet, and then mowed down gangland-style with fusiliades of machine-gun fire."

An official Israeli commission of inquiry, chaired by the president of Israel's Supreme Court, Yitzhak Kahan, found that Ariel Sharon, along with other Israelis, had responsibiity for the massacre. Quoting from their report: "It is our view that responsibility is to be imputed to the Minister of Defence for having disregarded the danger of acts of vengeance and bloodshed by the Phalangists against the population of the refugee camps, and having failed to take this danger into account when he decided to have the Phalangists enter the camps. In addition, responsibility is to be imputed to the Minister of Defence for not ordering appropriate measures for preventing or reducing the danger of massacre as a condition for the Phalangists' entry into the camps. These blunders constitute the non-fulfillment of a duty with which the Defence Minister was charged."

Ther's more if you want to read about it. (SEE The Official Israeli Commission of Inquiry Report)

Philip Habib, the U.S. peace envoy stated, on 9/28/82, "Sharon was a KILLER obsessed with hatred of Palestinians. I had promised Arafat his people would not get any harm. Sharon, however, ignored this committment entirely. Sharon's word is worth nill."

For his actions, Sharon was supposed to have stood trial before the World Court. The Court, however, decided that it could not prosecute someone for crimes when they were a leader of a nation.

Your implication is that people who pursue liberal arts degree are less intelligent than people who pursue technical degrees. That is not neccessarily the case. In Ivy League schools, for example, the most popular majors are usually liberal arts majors. The same is true for a schools like the University of Chicago, Amherst, Williams, etc.

As far as "problem foreign aliens", I am an American citizen not a foreign alien. In any case, some of these aliens sure do seem to be causing problems, as they are about one-third of America's engineers, computer scientists, doctors, etc.
