Many Hurt in Jerusalem Market Blast, Police Say
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A suspected bomb rocked a supermarket in a suburb of Jerusalem Friday, causing many casualties, police said.
The police gave no more details of the explosion in the Kiryat Yovel district. Ambulances rushed to the scene.
The blast occurred several hours after Israeli forces entered the West Bank city of Ramallah, nine miles north of Jerusalem, following a Palestinian suicide attack which killed at least 20 Israelis in the city of Netanya Wednesday.
Wednesday's suicide bombing was one of the bloodiest since occupation 18 months ago.

(07:50) Two dead in Gaza Strip knife attack
By The Jerusalem Post Internet Staff
Two Israelis were killed in an attack by at least one knife-wielding Palestinian terrorist in the central Gaza Strip community of Netzarim a short time ago.
The terrorists apparently broke into a synagogue during early morning prayers and began stabbing worshippers, Army Radio said.
The terrorists fled, Channel 1 Television reported a few minutes ago.
Large IDF contingents are moving house to house in the settlement searching for the terrorist.
The Jerusalem Post Internet Edition will update this report as further details become available.
1. Arrest him and put him on trial.
2. Launch a massive attack on the Palestinians.
3. Turn the other cheek.
Most (about 98%) of the callers went with option #2. They said that the Israeli's have as much right to retaliate with force as the US did after 9/11.
I have to tell you...I agree with Option 2, but it also scares the bejeezus out of me. But I don't think that there is any other option; I certainly don't see Israel turning the other cheek (would we?) or even if they did get Arafat, would that stop the violence?
I think this is rising to a new level that we younguns (me) haven't seen the likes of..and I did NOT like the picture in the paper I saw today of King Abdullah kissing the Iraqi diplomat (?) at the summit yesterday. Not at all.
Female suicide bomber blows herself up at Jerusalem supermarket, dozens injured, police say.
JERUSALEM, Mar 29, 2002 (AP WorldStream via COMTEX) -- A female suicide bomber detonated her explosives at the entrance to a Jerusalem supermarket on Friday afternoon, killing herself and injuring dozens, police and rescue workers said.
There were unconfirmed reports that at least one person was killed in addition to the bomber.
The blast occurred at a strip mall in Kiryat Yovel, a working class Jewish neighborhood in southeastern part of the city.
"I got there two minutes afterwards. It was a horrible scene," said Moshe, a witnesses who spoke to Israel Radio. He said two dead bodies were at the entrance, apparently those of the bomber and a guard who tried to stop her.
"I understood that the guard did not let the terrorist in, and they were blown up together," said Moshe, who gave only his first name.
Another witness, Hanna Cohen, said she was about to enter the store when there was "was a huge blast, and I saw people flying all around, arms and legs."
Dozens were hurt, including many inside the supermarket, according to police and rescue workers. "There are many casualties," said Yeruham Mandola, spokesman for the Magen David Adom rescue service.
Israel Radio said the Al Aqsa Brigades, a militia linked to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, claimed responsibility.
Palestinian militants have carried out dozens of bomb attacks during the 18 months of Mideast fighting. There have been about 50 suicide bombings during the Palestinian uprising, and Friday's attack was the second such attack carried out by a woman.

Israeli police responded to stones thrown from the Temple Mount on Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall by entering the Temple Mount compound and evacuating the rioters.
An Israeli officer was killed and 3 soldiers wounded as IDF forces re-entered the Palestinian city of Ramallah early Friday and moved into the government compound where Yasser Arafat has his headquarters. 3 Palestinians were killed and 40 wounded.
This morning, the government declared Arafat and the Palestinian Authority as "enemy" and initiated operations throughout the West Bank and Gaza, including a callup of 20,000 reserve soldiers.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are reportedly marching throughout the territories in support of Arafat. There are mass demonstrations in various Arab countries. An official PA spokeman called for "demonstrations of rage" outside Israeli and American embassies in the Arab world.
But the Jordanians refused to give their kin immigrant status and the Lebanese exiled them in the end too. Are they the murder SOBs who are led by the senile towel head with the big nose and bigger smell? Hashouri I think her name is.

What a way to start Black Friday. I'm Catholic, and most people call it "Good Friday", but old traditional Catholics refer to it as Black. With good reason.
| Arafat ready to die - - Palestinian minister Shaath | |
BEIRUT, March 29 (Reuters) - Palestinian leader Yasser
Arafat is ready to die in a confrontation with Israeli forces
who smashed their way into his compound in the West Bank,
Palestinian Planning Minister Nabil Shaath said on Friday.
"He is calm, he is steadfast, he is sure, not afraid of
death. He never was," Shaath told Reuters television in Beirut,
adding that he was in touch by telephone with Arafat.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, calling Arafat an
enemy, said he had decided to send troops to Ramallah, blaming
the Palestinian leader for failing to prevent attacks against
Israelis during the past 18 months of an uprising against
occupation.
Five Palestinians and one Israeli soldier were killed in
gunbattles on Friday after about 100 tanks and armoured
personnel carriers entered Ramallah. Israeli armour surrounded
Arafat's office and took over at least one building inside the
compound.
The raid came a day after an Arab summit in Beirut backed a
Saudi peace initiative offering Israel normal ties with Arab
states in exchange for its withdrawal from occupied Arab land
and allowing the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Shaath said Israeli forces were killing civilians on the
street. "It is like a duck shoot," he said, adding that he would
try to join Arafat in the West Bank on Friday.
He said Israeli "tanks and and heavy armoured cars are just
three yards below his (Arafat's) office...".

Fine by me .. One less Murdering Terrorist the World has to deal with
Maybe someone should explain to CNN that rocks don't blow up

All Palestinian factions unite against Israel, Arafat says Israeli army attacking his HQ with tanks, missiles, Sharon considers him an enemy.
JERUSALEM - GAZA CITY & RAMALLAH, West Bank - A Palestinian man was killed in clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian gunmen in Ramallah Friday after Israel tanks and armoured vehicles stormed into the West Bank town, Palestinian security officials said.
The man was identified as Ala Daraghme, 22, who they said was shot dead in clashes in the Al Tireh district in the north of the town, around a mile (1.6 kilometres) from Yasser Arafat's West Bank headquarters.
A Palestinian knifed to death two Jewish settlers in the Gaza Strip early Friday, an Israeli military source said.
They were attacked in the Netzarim settlement in the centre of the Strip, the source said, adding that the killer was a farm labourer who worked in the settlement.
Their death brought to 1,627 the overall death toll for the 18-month-old Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation.
All the various Islamic and nationalist Palestinian factions on Friday decided to "unite to defend the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip," an official of the radical Islamic group Hamas reported after a meeting
Arafat said on Friday that Israel was attacking his headquarters in the West Bank town of Ramallah with "tanks and missiles," in an interview with Qatar's Al-Jazeera television.
Israel is "attacking the headquarters of the Palestinian leadership with tanks and missiles and some of our premises have been destroyed," Arafat told the satellite channel by telephone.
"They (Israelis) want me to become a prisoner or fugitive, or (they want me) dead. But I tell them no, I'll be a martyr, a martyr, a martyr," he said.
"May God grant me martyrdom," Arafat said, vowing that the Palestinian people would "not kneel" to Israel.
His words came just hours after Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon declared that both he and his government now viewed the Palestinian leader as "an enemy who must be isolated".
Speaking at a press conference following an all-night emergency cabinet session, Sharon said Israeli troops were already in Ramallah "in the area of the Mukhatar", the official name for Arafat's residence.
"We've done everything possible to arrive at peace but all we have had until now has been terror, terror and more terror. No sovereign government can accept such events," he said. "We are in a war where the targets are women, children, babies and old people. We know that sometimes in war civilians are killed but in this war, the targets are civilians and we are seeing whole families destroyed," he said.
"This is why we see Arafat as an enemy, so he is going to be isolated."
Israel would take "all the necessary measures to act and destroy the infrastructure of every terror element that exists", he said, adding that the cabinet had approved the immediate call-up of 20,000 reserve soldiers in order to be carry out such measures.
Speaking at the same press conference, Defence Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer said, however, that Israel had "no interest in reconquering or re-occupying the Palestinian territories.
It was not the Palestinian people who were "the enemy" but terror, he stressed.
"The only thing that interests us is to fight against the infrastructure of terrorism in the territories. This war has no geographical boundaries or borders," Ben Eliezer added.
"We are calling a large number of people into this action which will be concentrated in Ramallah, which is the capital of terror," he said.
But speaking in the televised interview, Arafat hit back saying Israel was invading Palestinian-ruled areas "in response to the Arab summit, which endorsed the peace initiative of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz" in Beirut Thursday.
"This is the Israeli answer to any attempt to bring peace, because they don't want peace," he said.
"Is occupation not ... terrorism? Is the use of F-16s and the bombing of civilians not ... terrorism?" asked Arafat in response to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's accusations of terrorism against the Palestinians.
Israeli tanks have deployed throughout Ramallah, fully occupying the West Bank town and surrounding Yasser Arafat's headquarters, Palestinian security sources said Friday.
Heavy clashes are taking place at various locations.
An army bulldozer smashed a hole in the wall of Arafat's compound in the north of the town but had not entered, the same sources said.
Pass the barf-bag, would ya?
- Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are reportedly marching throughout the territories in support of Arafat.
- There are mass demonstrations in various Arab countries. An official PA spokeman called for "demonstrations of rage" outside Israeli and American embassies in the Arab world.
The major/elite American media will continue to be dumb as long as the viewer is as equally dumb and allows it to be. For the same reason you NEVER hear the major media in America report what Arafat preaches to his people in Arabic after showing a clip of him claiming to want "peace" in English. Just the peace stuff. Never the parts of him telling the Palestinians to destory Jews.
Didn't the leaders of the Taliban say the same thing, just before they ran for their lives and sent their followers to die in their place?
Ask CNN why the Arabs didn't let Arafat broadcast his speech at the summit??? and why 50% of the Arab leaders didn't attend the summit ..
Cause THEY knew there would be trouble
What does that tell you?
They aren't allowed to drive but they can carry a bomb. Allah's an odd duck
They'll be sending in the children next.

I just saw old footage from a few months ago, of Abdullah warmly kissing Arafat. Very creepy.
