FreeRepublic Re-Design

Posted on 03/30/2002 9:13:27 AM PST by rs79bm

This new design is confusing and very nauseating. Hey, haven't you heard of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?"

Your donated $$ at work? Don't fret, we'll get used to it. I am still confused about the metamorphed sidebar thing.. I can't seem to figger that out just yet.

I agree - new design is hard to use and not very usefull. Please go back to the previous design.

I really, really, really, (really) prefer breaking news on the sidebar -- it's how I get a ticker-like look at the latest events in the world. I really REALLY miss that.

Really.

Let me know if you figure out a way to properly order the sidebars. All I want is breaking at top, followed by front page and extended. Yet its like a puzzle trying to get them arranged. Finally got it right a few minutes ago, but made a post, came back, and front page had popped up top!

You can have it.... really.... go to topics and select what you would like to see in your sidebars

Another thread for those who are slow to change... Give it a chance... there are some really neat features in the new version. And the look has a lot of class.

Go to topics, click on whichever ones you want(such as breaking news), and each will have an option on the left side on if you want to subscribe or not. If you subscribe, it will place it in the sidebar.

Jim, (or whoever,) whatever you're going to do... do it and then leave it alone! Just about the time I think I know my way around here - someone moves the furniture and I'm back to feeling around in the dark.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Hmm...sounds like a case of you flip but they flop. However, there's a good reason (cost) to reduce the data transferred when we click or reload.

Thank you both very much. I'd've really missed that feature.

Really.

AMEN! This is my fourth visit this morning and I still can't figure out how to get breaking news. What a silly "upgrade." I think the person who simplified the federal tax system worked on the new design.

"I really, really, really, (really) prefer breaking news on the sidebar.."

Scroll up to "Topics" (upper right corner)...(click on it)

Scroll down and click on Breaking News. Once you open that window, in the left column you'll see a place to click to "subscribe".

Once you do this, "Breaking News" will appear on your sidebar.
