Lamar is a Has Been's Has Been. He is through forever as far as being elected to a Tennessee elected office that includes the U.S. Senate. You would think the GOP would want the best man for the job {Ed Bryant} and put political favors {jobs for friends} behind them just once.

I would also like to point out that those thinking Lamar will carry East Tennessee as a home town boy best think again. Mike Williams is from Union County in East Tennessee.

It's none of my business, since I live in Texas, but Bryant strikes me as a real yawner when it comes to enthusiasm.

Alexander's got more name recognition than Bryant does, nationally. Is that not the case in Tennessee?

Remember, the objective's to beat the Democrats, not quibble over internecine battles.

As a registered Republican voting in East Tennessee I can tell this kid won't vote for Lamar. I voted for him the first time around for governor but that was it. Not all Republicans are good Republicans. He's a Socialcrat as far as I'm concerned.

You're from Texas so you don't know Lamar like we do. You don't know about the states problems under his tenure as governor. Bank failures related to a politically endorsed failed Worlds Fair. A communications firm Lamar was tied to that after securing city help to build it's campus left town soon after completion. The sorry pathetic insterstates build under his watch. The magical family investments that would make Hillary envious. Gail can you post that Skeleton site again? Lamar was a good governor Only because the previous one was a convicted felon upon leaving office. Let me ask you Sink. If the RNC and White House had said Don Sundquist-R is the man for senate would you say we should support him also?

If he was the only Republican who could beat Harold Ford (or whoever's running as a Democrat), absolutely.

That Sinkspur is what has bought us the mess we now have. Sundquist is the RINO of RINO's. A governor so pathetic that the DEMs loved his so much they ran a party joke against him. Why? Because they could count on Sundquist to fight for their agenda of Socialized Medicine, expanded government with higher taxes, and against the GOP agenda of LOWER TAXES AND RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT. Now do you still call Sundquist a good deal? My dog could beat him in the GOP primaries that is how much he is hated in this state.

BTW Lamar is running against Bob Clement son of former governor Frank Clement. Not even Frank Clement perhaps the most popular Tn. governor of the 1900's could win an election to any other office after being our governor. None of our governors were afterward elected to the senate by the peoples vote and you have to go to the 1800's to find one who won any office after governor. GOP get a grip and a clue.

Lamar has to win the Primary before he runs against Bob Clement. I'm hoping it will be Ed Bryant running against Clement, not the political machine that is Lamar Alexander.

Well, I'm in West Tn near Memphis, and I will be voting for Bryant, too. Alexander is not a conservative. In the general election I will vote for the GOP nominee. If it's Lamar, I'll just hold my nose and do it. Better a RINO than a Democrat.

Agree. The White House needs to support Ed Bryant for Senate and not Lamar Alexander.

With FReepers like you, it's no wonder we can never find candidates who don't stab us in the back at every turn (Jeffords, Lott, McCain, etc.). Go lurk elsewhere, you rude poster.

If conservatives can't be free to choose representatives who share our priorities and views, then why the heck are we even bothering with the voting booth at all? Do you think that whoever the GOP leadership crown as 'the favorite' should just be directly coronated? No, thanks, our forerfathers thought of a better system, and I'm glad animal172 has the brains and initiative to be selective in his voting choices. I think it would be more appropriate and more intelligent if you would both share some reasons for and against voting for Lamar, rather than the gut reactions we're getting so far. Any info for those of us who don't know Lamar Alexander from Hedy Lamarr? (All I know is that he's run for higher office before)

Go vote for a Demorat you commie lover.

Many in the GOP last governor election did just that. They voted for a DEM Republican are you happy now? His name was Sundquist. Sundquist and Lamar same policies same problems understand now? Or do you have to ask the RNC & White House for permission to understand? There is more to it than the blessed beloved sacred party. There is more to voting than party there is an item called platform and principle. Twits like you is what keeps the GOP Clogged UP with Industrial Strenght RINO and offers little hope ever for political change of direction.
