This is disturbing. What are U.S. Jews teaching their children?

I don't know. I would think every Jew in the world would be a conservative, but the overwhelming majority in this country are liberal Democrats.

It beats the hell out of me. I'm something of the "black sheep" of my family for being "conservative/libertarian." Everyone else in my family is liberal... I used to believe that is was simply because they didn't have the facts, but when I'd present them with facts, the response was, "I don't care." Nothing that anyone could say would get them to change their minds.

I have started to believe that the reason that the "victim mentality" runs so deeply through the American Jewish community is a deep seated guilt for having survived the holocoust... That they shouldn't be alive, and they are subconciously doing everthing within their power to destroy Israel and remaining Jews world wide. Most reform Jews in America seem to actually have a deep seated disdain and anger (maybe even hatred) for the Orthodox Jews, and they give little thought to what being Jewish means, i.e. it's a RELIGION, not a "cultural identity!"

Anyway, it boggles the mind, at least mine! As for me, should anyone come for this Jew, I'll take my cues from those who revolted at Treblinka or the Warsaw Ghetto, not those who marched sliently off to slaughter...

I have a Luthern neighbor who is a democrat NOTHING you can show or tell him makes a difference even though he HATES affirmative action, quotas etc etc

There is also a democratic committee man who is Irish and the same way . He drives me goofy. Everything he hates the dems stand for, but he stays in the party

Well said, Mark. I have often wondered the same thing when I hear cousins with the same attitude. My brother actually said to me the other day (after sedar) that the Palestinians were going through a phase!! I went ballistic, I said a child goes through a phase playing with one toy, or a teenager goes through a phase wearing his hair green--Palestinians want to kill all the Jews--period--that's a fact, not a phase!!!!

You only read about the liberals because that's who the press wants to portray as "mainstream".

Jews who are conservative in the FR sense are either non-persons, or daubed with the "right-wing" brush.
